If you want small - chaparral
If want big - manix 2
Either will give a little more exposure to Spyderco leaf blades than Tenacious.

I would definitely buy the chap xl, as described by Wartstein.

Re: The XHP knives.
I only have chaparral in XHP as well. I wish it was k390, but I wish every knife was made in k390.

Re: Changes to OpFocus Program
I guess you could upload your dd214.
But again the company that does the background check already has access to all that.

Re: Changes to OpFocus Program
Today I tried to sign up for OpFocus Program and I didn’t finish the application because at some point ID.me asked to provide my social security number. I thought this is ridiculous, why do I have to give my ssn in order to complete my application? Members of OpFocus please let me know if you had t...

Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
Well it’s no secret the Dfly Salt SE is my favorite knife but I do however like the Lil’ Native because of the ergos and can’t wait to try the lw version with the thinner blade stock and back lock…I’m fairly certain it’s headed down Salt Avenue eventually and then it may just butt heads with the GO...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
For me, the most significant difference between the two is the blade shape. I understand on picture they look very similar, but Sage (at least the one I got) is pretty wide near the tip, while Manix tapers down more aggressively. Maybe this can be quantified in some way (i.e. width to length ratio ...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
Count me in the minority, but I'd rather wish the management team make the long-requested Para-3 sized Manix instead of a CBBL Sage... I would also prefer that. I don´t know folks, let me explain: - Imo a "Para 3 sized" smaller Manix would absolutely have to get rid of the Manix 2 pinky h...

Re: Changes to OpFocus Program
I appreciate the discount whether it is 50% or 40%. I only recently discovered this program and I am very thankful for it.

Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll
Neither.
Clipless in the pocket. No need to advertise that there is a sharp object in my pocket.
But when I’m out fishing it is clipped in the front pocket of the waders, tip up.

I have ukpk in spy27 on the way after theoretically overcoming my bias against non-locking knives. We’ll see how it works out in practice.

Re: Chaparral
But I still would like the chap in some high edge retention steel. Hi Mat_ski, That might come to pass with the FRN version. Do you have any particular steel in mind? sal I really like k390. There is something really awesome about how it holds edge and the patina it develops. Maxamet is nice too, b...

Re: Chaparral
Ok, since my last post here, I went back to using Chaparral a bit and I take back what I said that Sage 5 can replace the chap. It cannot, they are different enough.
But I still would like the chap in some high edge retention steel.

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
I have been trying to learn to free-hand sharpen on diamond stones. For that I decided to start on the cheap Ultrasharp stones. I gradually progressed from cheap knives laying around the house to various models from my usual rotation. I was finally "brave enough" to free-hand my Sage 5 Ma...

Re: Calypso Jr Sprint Run Considerations
I voted K390 and other, with the other being S90v. I have yet to have a knife in s90v and this looks like a great platform for it.
