Re: PM2 ”Statue of Liberty” cut - through

May she be a beacon of light in troubled times.
Great words!

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of ...

Re: "Talkin' Story" with Mr. Sal Glesser

Talkin' story;

I had just shaved with a straight Razor for the first time. I was staying in a camper at the Hammer Inn in Dubois. I had a lot of cuts so I had little piece of tissue stuck to my face. Looking back, I had to look odd to the group (Bill Bagewll, Don Hastings and Bill Moran were ...

Re: Bodacious S90V and carbon fiber Sprint

Sigh, I guess I have to buy this one too... :winking-tongue

MagnaMax should give S90V a run for its money, similar performance from those steels. I am super curious what color will be paired with it. MagnaCut got yellow what will MagnaMax bring.

I think it should be dark matter fat carbon ...

Also, the people saying that Chinese knives are categorically lower quality have clearly never seen high end Chinese knives. They are as good as anything else you can buy.

Re: China

If people buy it, keep making it. Country of origin doesn't bother me, nor does Spyderco making a knife I wouldn't buy bother me. People get worked up over nothing.

I've tried all of those locks and the Shark Lock is by far the most fun.

I preordered my Sage 6 from B&H, everything went fine. They sent periodic emails letting me know the status of the preorder.

Re: Sage 6 opened in pocket and bit me good :)

That's not quite true, the button also unlocks the knife when it's closed, just like a regular compression lock, but the second detent will keep it closed. Many are removing the second detent.

That is not true, for any regular compression lock I have, the blade is not locked closed, it ...

The button on the Sage 6 does stick out proud from the scales, and I’m wondering if it is possible to have the knife open if you were to lay the knife on a flat surface, button side down, and push the knife flat. It may be more of a ‘2nd detent/single detent’ question at that point ...

No, they are linerless. The description of the knife on Spyderco.com says as much.

Which steel manufacturer will be the one producing magnamax?
From what I've read it's Erasteel.

Re: What is the best steel for retaining high sharpness?

It depends on what you're cutting, but the most important thing for maintaining a fine edge is a small edge angle. Therefore you need a steel that can support a small edge angle, and the analysis becomes an edge stability question rather than an edge retention question. You want a tough, hard steel ...
