Re: Bodacious Discussion

How are the tips on these S90V sprints? They sitting properly far into the scale when closed?

S90V Bodacious was in stock at Smokey Mountain Knife Works but sold out as quickly as I could get an order in. Seems like they're shipping out in real small quantities.
Seems like it is in stock right now?

Re: Jeff Loffer from Cutlery Shoppe the new PM2 in REX 121

****, I have mostly stopped buying knives, but I always wanted a wharncliffe PM2. REX 121 would be a cute steel to have it in.

Re: Bodacious Discussion

I couldn't stand the smooth G10 personally. Would have to wear AWT scales if I got another one, or the S90V sprint coming out.

Re: Para Military 2 Salt DLC Review: High-utility, low-maintenance

This knife has wound up being the one Spyderco I carry the most, despite not really liking it after it first came out. Generally I prefer wharncliffe blades, back locks, aluminum or micarta scales, and no coating, so this basically had nothing going for it. I think it just became a case of it not ...

Re: Bodacious first Sprint and exclusive?

I personally prefer the Bodacious to the Shaman by a WIDE margin.
I also prefer the Bodacious to the PM2 or Military 2.
I do wish the Bodacious had more tip coverage when closed. It won’t take a whole lot of sharpening to end up with a proud tip. I’d suggest addressing this in CQI with a slight ...

Just had a second Endela wharncliffe in K390 show up on my porch today from National Knives. Great shop!

Re: China

Thanx Kristi.

I know it's a tough line to walk, but I'm trying to learn what our customers (Afi's) think about our own direction with regards to the knives we make in China, not whether or not the US should annex Canada.

There are some "Political facts" which we know, or should know;

1. The CCP ...

Re: What is a "front flipper?"

I've never heard anyone refer to the flipper on a Smock a front flipper, including Ken (nor is it called that in Spyderco's own copy on the page for that knife). In fact I've never seen anyone attempt to define a flipper that was behind the pivot as a front flipper until this thread.

Only thing I've ever used is ye olde Ballistol. You'll never catch me without a couple cans of the stuff.

Re: What is a "front flipper?"

I definitely would not refer to the flipper on the Mantra as a front flipper. To me the whole point of separating something as a front flipper is that it has an intentionally designed flipper on the blade spine rather than the tang (which then puts the tension point to break the detent in front of ...

Re: China

I can't lie, I try not to buy Chinese made products when possible. It's not a hardline rule or anything, but when I can support my local economy, I try to. In that sense I don't really see an issue with Spyderco having some of their production come from China. They offer plenty of models from ...

Re: Reveal 19 - Live!

15V Native Chief is a welcome sight. The Bodacious finally getting a sprint pairing I would be interested in too. I'm just not sure I want any non-wharncliffe blades at this point. Will see how I feel whenever they start becoming available.

Just came in today while I was at work. Haven't taken it apart, not sure I'm going to as just looking down in there with a flashlight this one looks like it comes with caged ceramic ball bearings already. Don't think I'm going to remove the second detent on this ...

Re: DLT Trading Smock Exclusive: Green Canvas Micarta w/ CPM20CV

I'll probably keep the second detent on this knife just for peace of mind while carrying, but I am wondering about the stock bearings. I've never had a Spyderco that wasn't on PB washers; are they using ceramic or stainless steel ball bearings? Normally I'd put Skiffs in a new knife on bearings.

Re: DLT Trading Smock Exclusive: Green Canvas Micarta w/ CPM20CV

Decided to get some LynchNW titanium scales for my Delica instead, but I'm looking forward to seeing some photos of this in the wild this week, as it looks like they did a really good job with this green micarta.

EDIT - I changed my mind, I feel like I need to try the Smock at least once, and I ...

Re: DLT Trading Smock Exclusive: Green Canvas Micarta w/ CPM20CV

I've always gone back and forth on the Smock, but I do love some micarta. May wind up copping this one, will have to think about it. The 15V Manix has somewhat killed my desire for new knives.

Re: Chief Crucarta

Just got mine in this afternoon. You can tell this model is gonna have some funny centering issues just because of the micarta w/o liners, but nothing worse than what happens on the LW models. Overall much better feel than the LW thanks to PB washers and much more comfortable scales, but not giving ...

I slapped an order in the second I saw the e-mail from DLT this morning. Been dying for this one!

@Red Leader, this one still has PB washers, right?
