Re: Sal, a handle forward Lil Native?

Please make it a wharnie though if possible like the Rockjumper and the LN wharnie. Microjimbo has entered the chat. Could a leaf/drop point blade be put on the more neutral handle shape of the microjimbo? Or is the microjimbo handle only capable of supporting the low tip placement of a wharncliffe...

Re: Sal, a handle forward Lil Native?

It seems we are discussing removing the choil on the blade + handle and shifting the handle edge/nub forward and the blade edge backwards. If we kept the same handle length, it would give more edge on that blade length and a 3 - 3.5 finger grip on the handle. This would have the sharp edge of the bl...

Re: Sal, a handle forward Lil Native?

Perhaps it would be better suited the name lil bodacious? Could it still be bodacious if it is very small? Maybe the Lil' Spunky or Precocious would fit that size. :winking-tongue As for choils, I'm not sure it is a requirement, though it may be preferred by some. As an example, the McBee is much s...

Re: Sal, a handle forward Lil Native?

If it is handle forward, it is no longer a Lil' Native, but something else even if the result is similarly sized. Being released from the naming constraint opens other possibilities. If the intent is a four finger grip combined with an overall blade length similar to that of the Lil' Native (includi...

Re: Recommendations for a European traditionalist

Welcome, Bernard. It looks like you may have an opportunity to check a few in person. That's the best option when available. I'm right handed, but can left hand open/close the compression lock such as the PM2 and Yojimbo. I just use my left thumb to release the lock instead of my right index finger....

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?

As just another random thought on "50th" characters... If there were a bolster on the knife and sizing allowed it, the "50th" text could go across the bolster with the pivot as the center of zero. Of course, that text position would likely preclude a clip swap to that location, s...

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?

That fluted Ti posted by Radioactive looks really cool. I wonder if you could inlay a damascus bolster on that and have it still all be fluted together.

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?

My first guess was similar to Danke, a PM2, possibly with damascus blade and maybe rafir noble scales. My second guess would have it be a never before seen Sal/Eric collaboration model done as a sprint run only edition. This would make it truly unique and possibly more highly sought after. I'm guess...

Re: The ultimate grail… work knife.

... CBBL instead? Okay, I'm out. I may try it some day, but I'm no longer enthused. I would have liked it in another lock style, but not that one. Maybe it's just my Manix, but there is too much tension on the spring for me and I'm not interested in having to tweak it to get it comfortable. And, th...

Re: The ultimate grail… work knife.

That sounds interesting. A Carribean sized backlock with SE Magnacut and dark green burlap micarta. If it's still a Salt and needs a water themed name, maybe call it the Salish after the Puget Sound/Salish Sea area and all of the islands, dark water, and evergreens around there. Put me down for one...

Re: The ultimate grail… work knife.

Well, I've been wishing for a backlock Carribean for quite some time now... and it would merge not all, but more features you want (if it came in MC even more). I hope the Leafjumper XL/Sequoia will be something like a backlock Carribean, or the 4" blade "Deep Space" (see here https:...

Re: Calypso Jr Sprint Run Considerations

Please explain why those who don't like sharpening choils should not get a Calypso Jr without one and those who want one just quickly add one themselves? Why not make all/more folks happy when this can be done so easily? :thinking On possibility is this: No everyone has the stones, literally or fig...

Re: Corrosion Reports

If you want the strength of a liner, but without the corrosion risk, perhaps the liner could be embedded within the FRN. I've thought about that as well, and I have to imagine there's a reason why it hasn't been done. I wish they'd at least just go back to solid FRN on the Salt series if nothing el...

Re: Calypso Jr Sprint Run Considerations

I voted SPY27 and Cruwear, but would prefer a Zome handle, maybe blue+gray or blue+green. Or, is there a reason this FRN must be a solid color?

Re: Different knife different day, or one knife for life?

:rofl My talk was slightly different. A week long trip to the Maldives costs many thousands of dollars. Afterwards, there are some digital photos and (fading) memories. For a fraction of the cost, I have a bunch of Spyderco that will be used for years and, if desired, can be sold later to recoup som...
