Re: Came here to pick a fight!
When I think 'tank' for the Spyderco I have and use, I immediately think of my Lil' Temp 3 SE. That's been such a beast on cardboard. But, if we're looking at overall build quality type factors, that may be a bit different. While the Lil' Temp 3 is quite good in that regard, I'd give the edge to ...

Re: H1Spyderco Machete?
I really doubt our military cares about machetes enough to bite but I suppose if they ever have a next gen machete program Spyderco could submit something. That seems more La La land than the rest of this.
How might a spec differ for that application? Is the existing spec close enough that a ...

Re: H1Spyderco Machete?
Having tested SE vs PE machetes a bit more extensively since I last commented I can only agree with @vivi - the PE one is visibly better at pretty much everything. As some mentioned much earlier in this thread (think it might have been @zhyla if my memory serves) a machete is moving at ...

Re: Need some input
I asked my wife about this. She mentioned a gold tone for girls and a silver for boys. She also likes a slight texture for a little tactile feedback, not as aggressive as a molded LW, but more subtle like a jigged bone traditional scale.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.
I went through my push/pull stage and eventually stopped. Now I just use a carefully held pull stroke. easier to be consistent.
I'm not quite sure what carefully held means here. I try to be careful in keeping it vertical, but am not sure that's what you meant. Is that a normal speed pull or a ...

Re: How many of You are collecting exclusively (or nearly) Spyderco knives?
While not quite 50%, Spyderco is what I have the most of with 32. Buck is second with 26. Then, there are 8 SAK, along with some other traditional type fixed and folding for a total of 78. Though I have built a small collection, I don't buy to collect. I only buy what I would want to use.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.
Police edge after few ~5 minutes free hand sessions on brown and white rod. Pic with some contrast for better view. You can see where teeth are smoothed and shiny. It cuts very decent, even shaving sharp a little bit. I wonder why K390 models have such rough manufacture finish on spyderedge ...

Re: Fellow Construction Workers...a Question.
Like tzirconia, the first thing I thought of with the mention of hawkbill was the Tasman. If you're comparing something with the Chaparral, the blade length is very similar with a bit of extra length on the handle to offset missing the finger choil. Here are the two:

Re: PM2 tip strength
If you were a Spyderco owner and you only had manual repair items like sand paper, steel wool, sharpening stones, etc, and no power tools, what options are there for repair of a damaged tip?
Send it to Spyderco or try to sandpaper a new tip on it?
Depends on the circumstance and extent of the ...

Re: PM2 tip strength
It doesn't need to be an intentional prying action. In theory, accidental torque may cause it. Imagine cutting something in a normal fashion and the tip somehow gets stuck in the material. If you try to pull it out and are at an angle at bit off of the cut line, you may apply that accidental torque ...

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco
I also enjoy how precise it can trim if you want your beard or side burns crisp. No guessing like with a cartridge razor.
I enjoy that aspect of my DE razor, though perhaps the Feather blades help. Just a slight press and they are nicely trimmed.
I have bought and tried a straight razor, but ...

Re: H1Spyderco Machete?
This is sounding quite interesting. If it doesn't have a handle, would that make it yet another mule team variation? Combining ideas from the other thread, we would have: mule team, 6" mule team (XL?), machete mule team.

pants getting destroyed from sharp nails?
geeze.
I mentioned that due to personal experience. Lately, the nail on my right thumb has had a tendency to split down the middle, usually from not paying enough attention when I pry on something with just the side/edge. If it sticks out a bit, it can ...

Re: Destroyed Pants
In the photo of the OP, the wear does not appear to be from a clip. That would be on the inside of the flap fabric. The shown wear is opposite the clip at the end of the handle. Some possible causes: not having smooth scale material, not having a smooth end of handle design, or even the repeated ...

I can see keeping a box such as CRK as that is also used to hold the tools that came with that knife. But, other than the perception of having it for possible resale later, once the knife is removed, of what use is the box? What does it contain of any value? As sturdy as Spyderco are, it would ...
