Re: Should Spyderco make this knife?
I still have mine from my Vietnam Marine father and one from my time in the Army. That said, respectfully, I would NOT get one.

Re: names changing?
Yeah, language is always evolving—especially slang—and it's wild how everyday words flip meanings over time. You're spot on with those.
Awful: Originally meant "full of awe" or "inspiring wonder" (in a majestic, respectful way, like "the awful power of nature"). Now it just means really bad or ...

Re: H1Spyderco Machete?
Jimandchris2,
I'm good with a black coated 3V for 400 bucks. I want this bad boy in a PE... the SE blade machete just flat out right doesn't cut clean through each chop swing nearly as easy as the PE.
I would really like the grip on this machete like the Ed Schempp Rock too, the grip on my ...

Re: 2025 Factory Seconds Sale
The Chaparrals seem to catch circular scratch marks in the blade flat above the choil area - it is a tight fit into the handle. That is the way the Rafir Noble one was last year, and I saw that same thing on the SE LW I got this year. No biggie, hardly noticeable. Knife feels amazing.
I handled ...

Re: So Why Is A Knife A Factory Second?
Spyderco’s First-QC are extraordinarily tight and measured objectively:
(1) grind symmetry within ±0.015″ bevel height and plunge-line placement;
(2) zero visible chatter, waves, or over-grinds under 10× magnification.
(3) lock engagement 40–60 % with no measurable side-to-side blade play and zero ...

This outstanding.
Spyderco could/might theoretically release an outstanding 17–18" machete, but H2 steel fails most practical criteria for real chopping tools.Sal taught us.
Required criteria: (1) edge retention sufficient for 300–500 hard cuts in green wood without major touch-up; (2) resistance ...

Outstanding to see everyone Thursday night for a bit and obtain more knowledge on Spyderco and the camaraderie they bring. I'll be there Saturday with a fair amount of Veterans.

I also appreciate the people who are keeping this topic as non partisan as possible.
It’s the guy that doesn’t comprehend what that request means and insists on discussing politics that I do not appreciate.
Why is it a forum rule in the first place if it’s not going to be enforced?
“In an ...

ButtonUp’s button lock is a slick twist on our compression heritage: smooth, ergonomic, and wallet-friendly. Mantra 4 just got sleeker and more pocketable. The Salt crew ...
