Re: Kitchen Knife Shape Opinions

Not to hijack, but I see some knowledge in here about the subject so what the heck... I have some "Prairie Forge" kitchen knives I bought back around 1983. They say "Super Stainless Steel" and are made in Japan. I've always wondered who made them because I've been using the chef'...

The mantra, you get what you pay for is mostly true. I do not shop at Walmart that often,
I think I read somewhere that Walmart was the reason for the Schrade debacle.

America's Knife Glut...

I went to an indoor "flea market" type place the other day. Many venders, they have booth type areas. My wife looks for old Corelle, books and such. My eyes are peeled for knives and musical gear. This place was packed with 15/20/30 dollar junk China knives. There were thousands of them am...

But also Sal and Gail. They drove up to N.Y. and donated a lot of Spyderco rescue blades to the guys and girls working the rubble piles at ground zero.
They did their part as well.
I hadn't heard about that. What a priceless tool to have at such a site.

Brilliant.

Kinda like a burglar breaking into a Bandido clubhouse during a meeting.

They might regret this, eh?

I never use the ultra-fine rods on my Sharpmaker, and only use the fine rods on the few knives where I want a polished edge. CBN/diamond plus medium rods do 95% of my maintenance needs.
Man, those CBN are the bomb, I just got mine a few weeks ago.

Dragonfly Salt 2; Sharp Holes ?

I ordered a Dragonfly for my wife and the hole is rather "edgy". My hands are tougher than hers, but even I noticed it. How would you ease that edge? I sorta did a search and didn't see anything, but I get side tracked easily.... It took Knifecenter 3 days to ship it, and then the Labor da...

I'm not bald but I wear a doo rag quite often because I have long hair that will go nuts if it's windy, and I also hate sweat in my eyes if I'm working outside.

But I never blow my nose in my doo rags.

Man, it looks like a grinder.

I usually just use cheap Harbor Freight files and whetstones for machetes, tools and whatnot.

The Sharpmaker is only for knives. Well, and my wife's scissors...

I wouldn't write Lee off just yet. Living for a dozen years around the Lake Charles, (La.) area taught me one thing.

Never trust a weather forecaster beyond a few days. Especially about hurricanes.

I never understood the burning man thing anyhow. When we used to have desert parties in Az. back in the 70's we just had a bon-fire. Regular ones.

I've carried SOG multi-tools for 20+ years. First the Paratool and then the Power-lock, the old one without scissors.

I'm never without it.
