Not to hijack, but I see some knowledge in here about the subject so what the heck... I have some "Prairie Forge" kitchen knives I bought back around 1983. They say "Super Stainless Steel" and are made in Japan. I've always wondered who made them because I've been using the chef'...

I never use the ultra-fine rods on my Sharpmaker, and only use the fine rods on the few knives where I want a polished edge. CBN/diamond plus medium rods do 95% of my maintenance needs.

Man, those CBN are the bomb, I just got mine a few weeks ago.

I'm not bald but I wear a doo rag quite often because I have long hair that will go nuts if it's windy, and I also hate sweat in my eyes if I'm working outside.

But I never blow my nose in my doo rags.

I usually just use cheap Harbor Freight files and whetstones for machetes, tools and whatnot.

The Sharpmaker is only for knives. Well, and my wife's scissors...

I never understood the burning man thing anyhow. When we used to have desert parties in Az. back in the 70's we just had a bon-fire. Regular ones.

I've carried SOG multi-tools for 20+ years. First the Paratool and then the Power-lock, the old one without scissors.

I'm never without it.
