I've wanted one of these since 2023 when I got to handle it and just scored one of these NIB for $250 on the secondary market. Nice. It has immediately become my favorite backlock in terms of action, fidget factor, and class.

Re: The Schempp Glamper campaign (an 8" folding Gyuto). Lets make it happen!
No pictures were allowed of R&D knives. Hopefully its makes an appearance at Amsterdam with pics allowed.
The use case is just a folding kitchen knife because its cool and novel, because you hate sheathes, like Mr. Schempp?

The Schempp Glamper campaign (an 8" folding Gyuto). Lets make it happen!
The most novel, inventive, and exciting knife shown at Shot Show, by far, was the Schempp Glamper - a prototype, compression lock, ~8" long, traditional Gyuto blade, flat grind with thin BTE and thin Spine, stone washed, with vertical dimples (for food-release). The blade shape was very similar to ...

Re: Jeff Loffer from Cutlery Shoppe the new PM2 in REX 121
I need that DLC wharnie variant.
$265 ain't bad for Rex121 either.
New scales are a must but I understand orange is the CS thing. Glad they're doing DLC!
I see the satin/leaf blade listing up now. I'll keep an eye for the DLC variants.

Re: Whatever happened to the Centofante 4?
Do I remember the C4 impressed Janich so much in cutting ability it was the inspiration for the Jimbos? I thought I saw that somewhere on here.
To me this is like a mini Jimbo without the tactical look plus has a very small carry profile. I hope this becomes reality in 26-27.

Re: Whatever happened to the Centofante 4?
Love my C4. The pinned action on mine is pretty horrible tbh, but I assume a new sprint would have Screw construction and I'm definitely in for one.
I'd vote for a more utilitarian (lower cost) materials vs the recent $200+ C3 sprint. Cruwear FRN is fine.

Re: The Big C
So sorry I'm seeing this late. Joe was a great asset to the community and will be missed.
Because of Joe I'm the proud owner of 4 Ayoob Sprints.
His passion really came through and also instilled in me a love of his 'golden age knives (early 2000's-ish era).
RIP Joe. Your memory lives on here ...

Re: Hey Al - " Mule Team" - Wendy
I'm 10000% in for a 6" mule.
Outdoors, the VG10/Micarta Temperance 2 feels best in both blade size (4.8") and fit/finish, and full tang heft. The SE Cruwear T2 is also pretty great outside. Both are almost a MuleXL in design.
A 6" Magnacut Serrated MuleXXL would be near perfection for an ...

Re: China
Chinese knives are often liner lock, the worst of all locks, so on top of the "china" stigma, they usually feature my least preferred lock.
$80 is still too much for a Chinese knife especially considering their bottom tier steel.
Others like them, but they have zero appeal due to their low tier ...

Re: MT46P Testing Thread
Hi Spyderwebs,
sal
Thank you sal, it's no problem in the grand scheme. It sharpened off easily and I'm loving magnamax overall (especially SE). If anything I'm sorry for being whiny.
I've been using the SE in the kitchen, yard, and a little camping. The SE seems just like a mini Temperance2 ...

Re: Magnamax performance discussion
I'd love some new 3.4 - 4" knife designs with 2.5mm stock similar to the Schempp Bowie or slightly smaller.
Thinner stock really helps with sliceyness and most models wouldn't suffer at all with .5mm thinner stock.
Or a thinner BTE grind with the existing stock thickness. Either would achieve ...

Re: suggestion: non-salt seki models in Magnacut
At least in Golden, it would be nice to see S30V go away and everything default to Magnacut.
It would make all of Golden's base models a lot more attractive imo.

In terms of fit and finish,
Taiwan > Golden > Maniago > Seki (I don't have any Chinese models so can't rank)
In terms of designs,
Seki > Golden > Taiwan > Maniago > China

Re: MT46P Testing Thread
I've been using the SE since release but just pulled out the PE to play with it a bit.
I know this is an easy fix, but the PE I got has the worst factory edge with a large burr (catches on the nail easily), and catches on printer paper and wont slice cleanly even at a very steep angle. Really an ...

Re: Temperance 2... in 15v?
I might be in minority, but I've been extremely happy with how VG-10 performed on the Temp 2 platform. I think it's a case of the design having more merit than the actual type of steel being used here.
I'd buy a re-run made the exact same as the original.
VG10 might seem boring compared to ...

First models with MagnaMax? and other MM questions...
I've been enjoying the Mule thoroughly and it got me wondering, Any hints at which models will get the first rounds of Magmamax?
I assume they're still a ways down the pipeline, given that NSM needs to commission more melts of MM, right?
Any idea when another MM melt will be available to OEMs ...

Re: Steel Challenge #1
Fun idea Shawn!
I'm just a guessing layman, but lets see how close I come.
I'm guessing #2 is more stainless, because the Vanadium, Niobium, and Nitrogen allow more chrome to remain in solution, thus adding to its stainlessness.
Close?

Re: Talking Mule Team Re-runs
Now that serrated mules are a thing, any re-run in SE would have a strong pull I think.
Magnacut would definitely sell out a 2nd or 3rd run, especially with a mix of PE/SE.
How many new / exciting steels are left to try?
I'd also be interested in DLC coated tool steels like M4 or K390 or 10v in ...

Re: MT46P/MT46S - Mule Team™ MagnaMax™ Release Info!
Someone please correct me…but has their been a steel with a higher wear resistance than Magnamax that has been in a serrated format? Like serrated Maxamet or something?
Or is this the highest so far?
I could see chipping becoming an issue with low toughness steels, so wonder if the ~K390 level ...
