Re: Has there ever been a LW Wharncliffe Lil' Native?

Check out the discontinued Byrd Robin Wharncliffe as well. If I didn't have a Lil Native Wharncliffe I'd probably have one of those. Didn't really like the Wharncliffe Dragonfly, the taller blade ruins the superb DFly looks IMO.

Re: The Edge Is A Ghost?

What calculus does is to give you means to determine the value of 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + ... in finitely many steps. Those steps are not summing up a finite amount of fractions but instead a number of logical steps (what we call a mathematical proof) to arrive at the conclusion that the value of this inf...

Re: The Edge Is A Ghost?

Synov Thanks for typing all that out. Big thumbs up from a fellow mathematician, everything is spot on, a joy to read. When it comes to infinity and the physical world I'd like to add that our world is totally finite. While you can absolutely calculate arbitrary subdivisions of a given distance, ma...

Re: Chaparral Slipit?

It doesn’t. Keep in mind that the Urban and Squeak models feature a simplified slipit construction compared to the UKPK. AFAIK so far only the UKPK has the more involved and subjectively much nicer feeling mechanism. A Chap slippie could be marketed much more premium than the basic Urban and could ...

Re: EDC Hygiene: Fixed Blade VS. Folder

Not to derail this further, you're right, was thinking of the smaller salt. The Pac appears to have a feasible blade shape as is.

Re: EDC Hygiene: Fixed Blade VS. Folder

I can disassemble every folder, but I can't disassemble every sheath, so generally I prefer folders over (carried) fixies for food. I have one dedicated food prep folder (UKPK Salt) for camping use. It only ever sees food and is thoroughly cleaned (no dissembly though, if soap can't get in, dirt can...

Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?

By design, these knives encapsulate the spyderco design philosophy the most. Not going by my opinion or preference, but by actually observing and taking their in house design history into account. Also another reason I forgot to add previously, made in Japan, historically I would say spyderco has p...

Re: Any news on the Kapara slipjoint?

[ That said: I am really glad for all who would/will enjoy it as a slipjoint and/or can´t carry a locking folder legally! :smlling-eyes One question though: If a slipjoint Kapara is held behind the choil and folded accidentally: Would the fingers still be protected by the choil hitting first, or wo...

If the Spyderco version is modeled after this version, it would take a unique place in their SlipIt lineup.

I believe what @TazKristi means is that it would be easy for bots to register and keep quiet for x years to circumvent purely time based verification processes.

been a long time since I did a convex edge by hand. It was fun. this thing carves wood so well now, well a head of my mora 511's

120 grit, a few passes on 500 grit to clean up the apex, then a microbevel on a fine spyderco ceramic bench stone.
Did you use sandpaper or stones?

Re: The Astute

If it ever got a CQI I'd love to see it with a blade at 2.98" and a black wire clip. I think that would increase sales. One of the qualities of the Astute is the insane edge to handle ratio. I think it would be a shame to change that for legal reasons (where I live I can't carry ANY locking Sp...
