Re: stretch 2 compression lock
Of course i can only speak for myself, but the day every Spyderco comes with compression lock is when i look elsewhere for interesting designs and knives.
I don't hate the compression lock but i don't see it as the second coming of Christ/ best invention since sliced bread either ...

Re: Steel Collecting vs. Intended Use
I recently picked up the new 15V MicroJimbo.
I've considered the 15V MicroJimbo as a dedicated workbench knife for hard cutting tasks of all variety. There's someone on here who uses the MicroJimbo in a warehouse setting. I say: Don't bother what the knife was designed for and see what you need ...

Re: The serrated Chaparral is pretty cool
Up to now I tried to match the 15 degree angle of the main serrations. So a 20° microbevel ist the way to go?
I like to take every knife from a factory edge and use it and see what happens. If I start seeing edge damage on typical use then I'll start using the 15 degree slots on both sides ...

Re: The serrated Chaparral is pretty cool
Well, bevel angle choice is a large discussion about tradeoffs. But in this case I wonder where you are seeing rolling (points? valleys?), how deep the rolling is, and if there are obvious materials you’ve been cutting that could cause this.
I’ve had no such issues on mine. But I don’t think it ...

options some might not even have thought of but could try and then see if they work for them or not..
True. You get a lot of ideas you might try out for yourself around here.
IF there is an "issue" at all, than rather "the other way round" - like in that people in rare occasions don´t want ...

Has anybody else experienced the apex on the XHP serrations rolling in regular use? I might go a bit mor shallow than the factory angle on my next resharpen...
Of course the proper solution to this problem would be a new run in a harder steel :-D j/K

Re: Back lock is
Why is this such a heated topic? I kind of make every lock type work for me. For back locks, it's the classic ricasso-to-forefinger-method here, can't find anything wrong with it and the others just don't work as reliably/safely for me (for instance, I lack the finger strength to depress your ...

Re: That Metropolitan is mine !
I don't know. My Squeaks were so weak I was afraid of them, so I gifted them. My Urbans, except for my K390 Sprint, have been hard and rough to open and close. They were so bad I have to be careful not to cut myself when closing. I still keep them for traveling, though. I want this Metro to be a ...

Re: Favorites from new Reveal
Same here. For me it's the Spy 27 Stretch 2 XL, Metropolitan, Dyad and Balance that caught my eye. Probably only the Metropolitan and Dyad will actually make me buy them but that Balance is so funky, I might have to shell out for that one despite the collector-grade pricepoint.

Re: That Metropolitan is mine !
When they decided to shorten the Urban’s blade I was quite let down but now I am happy again. This one is going to be a fierce competitor against my usual urban go to pocket folders. I hope Doc Dan is as excited as I am. Bring it on !
Finally! After all of these years. I hope the action is ...

Re: Forum Logging Out/In Issues
Thanks @TazKristi , this was easier than expected. I orignially thought it had to do with my browser (Vivaldi) since I didn't have the same problem when logging on via Chrome. Turns out it was just a cookies issue.

I went with the Kapara just because I like the design in theory but don't vibe with the available steels yet. K390 on the other hand...

Re: Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!
Way too little buzz for the S2XLK390 in here!
I just finished a first stress test. Had some very fibrous cardboard-like material to break down. The factory edge wore down almost immediately but a lackluster sharpening on 350 and 1000 grit diamond plates made it last much longer (several hours of ...

Re: Chaparral LW Salt SE
TBH, I'm perfectly happy with the Chap SE as it is. I love my linerless Salts, but the Chap's linered construction doesn't really scream "Salt" to me.
