Re: Upping the price.

Sal has had enough. I am sure that I am not alone in thinking this thread has run it's course. Please close the thread. I don't know about closing the thread, but it has surely run its course. I am sure Sal has had more than enough. I think it is time for members of good will to exercise discipline...

Re: Anyone Else Up For a Resilience in CPM-M4?

A Resilience in M4 would be a little interesting (I generally try to avoid Chinese items when I can summon the discipline).

I would seriously consider an Emphasis in M4.

Re: Delica size with fidget factor?

Without having ever handled a Watu, I suspect it's your best option if "carry" and "action" are key. I have the Para 3, Sage 5, and a Meadowlark 2 (Delica sized Byrd variant). My conclusion is that a blade that tapers to a vertically compact point will carry a bit small for its s...

Re: Upping the price.

I guess we could lower our prices; We could pay our crew less, take away their benefits, drop CQI, eliminate the Mule team project, stop supporting our Troops, Law enforcement, First Responders, our community. Stop printing catalogs, use cheaper materials and reduce our tolerances. Eliminate bonus'...

Re: Upping the price.

Not meaning to critizise you by any means (who am I to tell people how to enjoy their knives?), but 100 % no, I don´t feel like that. I could never keep a Spydie that I don´t actually use a lot (exception: I kept a nib backup for my discontinued VG10 Stretch 1 for some time, but not even that anymo...

I wonder whether the tools our forbears had to buy were any cheaper relative to their incomes?

Has anyone got an old Sears catalogue, to compare?
I like that idea. Perhaps the Colt Lightening (1890~) priced out in inflation adjusted dollars. ;)

Very interesting discussion, and yes, I've been following it, and will participate. We don't like the high prices either and we're always considering the paths to take. ....... We spend a lot of time trying to make our products better, and we spend a lot of time trying to make our products less exp...

Re: Upping the price.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Chances are if you're on this forum, you've already got more than enough knives in your collection to keep you busy/happy as it is...you just don't know it yet. Based on the poll that was going around a couple weeks ago, the amount of people scooping up 15+ knives a...

Re: AI art knows Spyderco

Personally I detest AI and the over use of Robots in the industry. I’m really curious if you are aware CNC machining is the dominant manufacturing method of knives now. The robots won. CNC is not equivalent to Ai. Not even close. I wholly agree: AI isn't a computer running a CNC machine - that is c...

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?

This is an interesting topic. I live in a very knife friendly place. However, the law is so friendly as to be vague: my *understanding* is that big folders are fine, but if anything bad a happens motive comes into play. I would prefer a codified right-to-carry unless the circumstances very clearly s...

Re: Upping the price.

I believe your thinking is the same kind of thinking that has caused most manufacturers all over the world to make their product in China....less work and more profit. That's the trap. Low cost high quality is the bait. I don't think that there is any question that Chinese makers can make good qual...

I’d like to see a return to the casual carrying of short swords.

Re: Upping the price.

The pricing has definitely made me slow down. I got hard into Cold Steel late last year / this year, and the prices are amazing in comparison...... When I can get a Recon 1 4" blade folder with G10, S35VN and an improved lockback for about $75 VS over twice that for an FRN & BD1 Chief, it'...

this is a fun wikipedia article.

so, about the native chief lw... anyone using it in outdoor scenarios such as wood processing/carving, etc.?
Wiki: :rofl

NC-LW: now that is an interesting question. That sort of use would tell us more about potential flex, durability, etc.

I probably should not be using Firefox with so many add-ons, extensions. I probably will change browsers eventually. Re: Help with clip screws on Robin and Crossbill

The Para 3 uses SAE 2-56 clip screws. I have no personal experience with them, but I suspect the two Byrds being discussed here use either M2 or M2.3, and both could easily be mistaken for 2-56. Do you happen to know, are M2 / M2.3 common on Spyderco models (clips) from Asia? Or are these sizes jus...

Re: Help with clip screws on Robin and Crossbill

I found the screws in my Meadowlark tight coming out; there appeared to be glue. Interestingly, the deep carry clip I was using on my Para 3 (a Lynch clip I believe) would not accept the screws from the Meadowlark (I was planning to simply swap clips). A quick glance led me to believe the screws wer...

Re: Delica 4 in 2024?

The Exclusives are what I recommend first, insanely good value. Honestly the price of the exclusives in high end steels like 20CV, CPM-M4, Hap 40, Super Blue, or Coated Cru-wear is one of the best values on the knife market usually they are only $10-15 above the base VG10 price. I picked up a coate...
