Been a while since we had a PM2 run with cool blade shape.

How about a hollow grind?
Saber grind! There's something about the saber ground version of the stretch that just looks SO good. A saber ground pm2 would be incredible.

what i'm most hoping for is a blackout se h2 version and a pe lc200n version. has there been any chatter about either of these becoming a possibility in the future?
Great idea. I would personally love a sabre ground PE in blackout.

I know they don't do DLC in taichung but a full DLC GB2 would look incredible.

Re: Choil-less PM2

I would be into it. The choil is a big part of the pm2's iconic look, but most of the time i'm just holding the handle.

While we're at it: saber grind Pm2 anyone? that saber grind looks so good on the stretch salt.

I would be very interested to hear more about the new coating as well. Supposedly there are pvd style coatings that are even more wear resistant than dlc.

Euro leftie here; all my knives are righthanded and the righthanded compression lock works really well once you're used to it! You can't go wrong with the PM2 or 3 as an introduction to spyderco.

How about... a saber grind PM2

The flat grind is of course what makes the Pm2 the Pm2, but hear me out. The Stretch XL shares a very similar blade profile, and there's just something about that hollow saber grind on the Stretch XL Salt version. The blade silhouette works so well with a saber grind. I'm thinking it would be a ...

My main criteria for a coating is durability, and DLC shines in this regard. If the new coatings are less durable than DLC, I'll probably steer clear.
This is the main issue. DLC is the gold standard for durability in the market.

Re: Upping the price.

This thread has been extremely insightful so far.

For me important aspect is that Spyderco knives have some "soul", character, history and faces of Sal and his family behind it.

I'd like to add something to this. Spyderco designs tend to feel very considered to me, with a consistent design ...

To piggyback on this question: are the scales of the Native 5 and Native 5 LW interchangeable?
The Native 5 LW and Native 5 G10 handles are not interchangeable.
Appreciate it!

Re: new coating coming!

Awaiting more info on this mystery coating, specifically regarding durability compared to the current DLC.

This is my main concern. DLC is bombproof. Other coatings currently in the market not so much. I recently stuck my DLC PM2 in a pouch with a cerakote Kershaw for some quick transport, and ...

im excited a out the new coatings. dlc has a great ability to resist corrosion better than satin blades but they also increase drag. plus lowered cost is nice to hear. with larger models dlc option can add $30-50.

really interesting stuff. excited to learn more!

I'll be honest, the new ...

Re: The Nirvana blade was a fantastic blade design.

Its price on the secondary market precludes my owning one, so instead I own a Zero Tolerance Emerson 0640, the closest thing I could find. It's also a lovely knife with a much-too-thick blade and disappointing grind geometry.

funny you should say that - i too own a 0640 and feel exactly the ...

"best" always depends on "best for what?"

An ode to the compression lock.

I got my first spyderco 20 years ago. A pro venator with the inset kraton grips. It did everything i expected from a pocket knife, so for 18 years it was the only knife i owned. Then, two years ago i stumbled on a video about the para 3 and thought "That looks neat, maybe after nearly two decades it ...
