Re: It's All About The Heat Treat

Again, I don't know what Newt Livesay of Wicked Knives did to those knives of his but, they are phenomenal performers for 1095 steel, and they have impressive rust resistance in my usage. Heat treatment, quenching, tempering, Cryo treatments? Don't know what he did but, it sure does work well for me...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

I would also suggest buying better shave creams and soaps. While they are more expensive initially, many people find they use less so they last longer. This means that in many cases, the "good stuff" and the "cheap stuff" end up costing the same or nearly the same when you factor...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

Also, I will not spend tons of $$$ on wet shaving stuff. As I took up wet shaving to save money from cartridge shaving. Not to spend 3x as much. I get some collect and buy high end and that's cool. But for me it is strictly to save money over cartridges and to have money for my savings account or o...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

... If that don't work. I will try a different cream or shaving soap. I am just trying to finish off my Barbasol as I don't like to waste product. I will get it figured out. And I still blame my technique of shaving heavy handed for 80% of my issues. Today I am going to concentrate on using a light...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

I will agree that Van Red Hagen is pretty mediocre. Hoping a King Gillette on order and a 50 pack of Silver blades will change my experience somewhat. But I may have to eventually buy a $100 or $200 safety razor. I hope not. I really don't have the funds to buy hundreds in shaving stuff. . Absolute...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

... It's hard to tell someone who is considering adopting real shaving that they need to throw out a couple Benjamins on equipment. But to be honest, that's what's needed to guarantee a good experience. I tend to disagree on the Benjamins! While $200 will buy some nice gear, it also isn't a require...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

I used my Van Red Hagen today. I did good until I tried to hit my neck. Got the burn like crazy. I blame my technique and cheap Barnwell shave cream. I tried r to shave against the grain like so could do with my cartridge razors. To get a closer shave.Gonna stick with it and figure it out. That was...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

I know it sounds goofy but If you have a way of stropping a de blade on clean leather, it makes all the difference in how smooth a new blade is (no cuts/weepers/etc), and how many shaves they’ll last. After 2 or 3 shaves, it will also realign the edge and let the blade live on for another 2 or 3 sh...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

https://www.edwinjagger.co.uk/en_us/edwin-jagger-3one6-stainless-steel-knurled-de-safety-razor.html] Just shaved for the first time with this one with a Personna blade. Super easy to use and seemed relatively mild but, I got a DFS under less than ideal circumstances with super cold water and shave ...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

I have a Van Der Hagen $18 safety razor in my bug out bag. Not used it since I cut the living hell out of my jaw. I decided to start using.it.again since cartridges and One blade heads have went up to insane prices. Try a different razor if that one continues to cause you problems. The Edwin Jagger...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

On the shave forums, the Henson and Razorock get raves from a broad cross-section of users for something in the $40~$70 range. My Muhle R41 is awesome with a 4-day 'forest' on my face! It is super aggressive for a daily shave for myself but, with a light touch does a great job. I'm getting ready to ...

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

Merkur. Period. Good quality, good price, and enough choice to suit your style. Long handle, short handle, closed comb, open comb, etc... check them out. Pretty bold statement. My experience with Merkur wasn't good. Edwin Jagger and Muhle have be very good to me. Razorock is another brand well rega...

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?

For those of you afraid of Safety Razors, you are really missing out! Not only is it SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER (100 blades for <$10 in many cases), it is awesome for the skin on my face. Exfoliating might not sound manly but, it is nice and it really works. In terms of being scary, buy a "mild&quo...

Re: It's All About The Heat Treat

Just because it skates with a 54RC file doesn't mean it is hardened to 54RC. I do agree though that setting aside a 58RC file you have for this purpose is a good idea assuming you want knives in the high-50's to low-60's RC range.

Re: New Sprint Drop Coming Soon!

Do they ship to France as well ? I would be in for one for my daughter. Ramonade has posted several times about ordering mule team releases to France from SFO, mentioned in October that delivery took 10-11 days and said back in February that shipping cost $45. I tried mailing a small package the si...

I don't know for sure either way but, if they don't, give me a shout. I have a friend that goes to Paris occasionally that might be able to help.

Thanks! I realize there isn't a Classified "for sale" forum here so, I was hoping to find another source where I might score one. I hadn't considered Reddit but, that's a great suggestion!

Yes, if you click on your name in the top right corner, scroll down just a bit, and you'll see "Show Your Posts." When I do that, I got the User Control Panel, Profile, and Logout. Diving into the User Control Panel and Profile didn't help. Best Regards! Update: Looks like I have been app...
