Re: Help With Choosing a Manix 2 Steel
Well I'm blessed. I mentioned to my good friend that I'm considering a Manix and he drops in and gives me this very nice used example to add to my collection. Seems like he solved the steel choice dilemma for me! Thank you everyone for your input in this thread. I was leaning toward SPY27 Lightweigh...

Re: Help With Choosing a Manix 2 Steel
Thank you all for your insights and suggestions. I'm surprised to see as many recommendations for BD1N as I thought there would be a theme to go for the "fancy" supersteels. I also appreciate the XL suggestions but I'm going to pass on entertaining the XL as the clip position looks like it...

Help With Choosing a Manix 2 Steel
Thanks for all being here; I sure appreciate the polite, intelligent crowd here who offers insight and opinions in a useful way while sharing our appreciation for tools. I'd like to ask for help now with my seeming inability to choose a steel for my next purchase, a Manix 2. I don't mind lightweight...

Re: Pick One Spyderco for last knife.
Who's had experience with liner knife in VG-10 in a salty environment? Did the liners/blade rust and it's why the Pac Salt has such a following? I'd be curious if so, and if the LC200N and VG-10 are close enough to be the reason why a Full Flat Grind Serrated Edge VG-10 Endura VG-10 hasn't been off...

Re: Pick One Spyderco for last knife.
Serrated Pacific Salt, in either H1 or LC200N, doesn't matter, which ever one I'm handed! Probably the LC200 cause I love that Green! Looks like there's a theme forming! I'll still take the liners and (more corrosion-prone/slight better edge holding?) VG-10, but since it's just not available in FFG...

That might be; my answer is the same if that's what the OP meant.BornIn1500 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 30, 2023 10:41 amI was thinking it was an auto-correct and he meant "versatile". That would make sense for picking only one knife. But I wasn't sure.

Re: Pick One Spyderco for last knife.
I looked up vestal, roughly translates to pure? If that's what you mean, then for me it's the Endura that I pick and the last one I'd part with if I could keep only one. The reason I think the Endura is the purest is that there's everything I need and nothing I don't: Slim in the pocket carry balan...

Re: There'll be a Stretch XL lightweight in K390, right?.. RIGHT?!
..... My VG10 Stretch 1 is my absolute favorite! You are right on about the HAP 40 model; with the better steel and orange handle that would be outstanding and I'm keenly watching for one to pop up available one day. ... The HAP 40 Stretch 1 is actually still available at BentoBoxShop for $ 200 I t...

Re: There'll be a Stretch XL lightweight in K390, right?.. RIGHT?!
I'm in for one as the ~70% edge-length-to-closed-length ratio ticks the box for me (I add only 66%+ models to my collection/carry rotation). .... I am a bit like you and appreciate a good edge to closed length ratio - though I am not as strict anymore, otherwise I would not like for example my REX ...

I'm in for one as the ~70% edge-length-to-closed-length ratio ticks the box for me (I add only 66%+ models to my collection/carry rotation). And after using and sharpening Seki K390 in other model, all I can say is wow this steel is amazing. I'm maybe an intermediate at most but was able to put a sc...

Re: Show your mods!
Straight Spine modded Endura 4.
Belt sander to profile, then 150 grit and finally 400 grit sandpaper to finish, all sanding done in direction of blade length. Spine looks pro/original and took 10 minutes. Since modding it's become my most carried/useful folder.

Re: VG-10 FFG SE Endura, is it coming?
Ok so it looks like a VG-10 Full-Flat Grind Serrated Edge Endura indeed isn't available at least of now. Maybe I'll have to splurge for the Full Flat Grind Serrated Edge that's available in K390....

Re: VG-10 FFG SE Endura, is it coming?
It’s on page 3 of the 2023 catalog. There’s only a picture of the PE but the CE and SE are also mentioned in the description and under EDGES. Thanks very much for your replies. I do see the Saber Grind SE Endura available in VG-10, just don't see a Full-Flat Grind SE Endura available yet. Thanks.

VG-10 FFG SE Endura, is it coming?
I don't see this in the 2023 catalogue, only the K390 version.
It'd be especially nice to have them released in the spectrum of handle colors, but I'll take black if that's what's released.
What are the chances that this will be released in 2023, or at all?

Re: What are the "grit" ratings of the Double Stuff pocket sharpening stones?
Hello, first post here and I think this is where I should post my question??. I have recently invested in a Double Stuff 2 (wow awesome!!!) and am considering the addition of the CBN Benchstone to my toolkit for at-home work on both my carry and kitchen knives. I’m curious is anyone knows which mesh...
