Re: Real World User Experience Sharpening CPM 15V
I just put a third edge on my Military/Bear Carta, and it is some of the easiest steel I have ever sharpened. After nearly a year of cardboard cutting and stropping I decided it was 'time'. It really didn't need sharpening, but what the heck. I like to sharpen but I don't get much chance to sharpen ...

Re: What to use to protect tool steel blades
I have used Oxpho Blue on some of my blades. It can be VERY tricky to get good results. It's best to practice on an old blade. I wipe it on and immediately wipe it off with Ballistol. If it sets too long it will etch the blade so deeply it's impossible to get the etching off. I ruined a factory ...

Re: Byrd Gooney
I just got a Gooney, and what a neat design! This knife cuts cardboard amazingly well. I just got done cutting a bunch, and it dulled slightly, but it stropped right back quite easily. Any more curve to the blade and I wouldn't have been able to strop it. It is well made, especially for the price ...

I am taking a hint from Vivi and trying out a Police in SPY27 for a while. I need a lanyard because I have nerve damage in my right hand. Dang! Whatever liners you use Sal, they are sure made of some tough stuff! It took some diamond bits and quite a while to grind through in order to ...

Re: 15v Lil Native Backlock QC issues…
Is there any way to polish off a little to drop the blade? If so, where would I start? I don't have any problems, but one of my friends has a native 5 in s35vn that has been sharpened enough the tip will slash him if he's not careful.

Re: What to use to protect tool steel blades
Like Stuart says, Ballistol is a great lubricant and as close to an all around oil made. I have used it for many years on knives and guns. In fact, I am working on my second gallon right now. I also like Renaissance wax, mainly because I like to putter around and polish my blades,(makes 'em right ...

Re: China
The Chinese folk are generally wonderful. Very close family's, and they take care of their elderly. The Chinese government is run by a dictator and possibly one of the world's worst, and they have their fingers in ALL the pies. Organ harvesting, death vans and slave labor. Not to mention they can ...

Re: Spyderco knife mods
William DK, that really is a brilliant mod! Now I am thinking a PM2 Magnacut blade in a Para 3 LW would be a fun project. I bet yours is the only one in existence at the moment! What is the 'tail bolt' ?

Re: Spyderco knife mods
This is a Para3 factory second in Maxamet that I slim lined and dyed the scales. On the blade I used a cold gun blue. VERY tricky, probably not recommended. I ruined a different blade doing this. Sorry for the extra picture.

I used some titanium scales for this G10 Manix. After quite a bit of polishing, I flame anodized it.

Re: Spyderco Balance SPY27 Sprint Run
Few other knife brands are as collectable as Spyderco's. I am sure the little Balance will appreciate quite a bit in a few years, and the Balance certainly is a collectable Spyderco. I guess I bought the last one at National Knives.
