Re: Sharpmaker Elite Edition
For a special edition, I think a metal box and base would be really cool. Aluminum maybe. I don't think it would be worth it for one run from a business standpoint, but it would be super cool from a user/fan of the product. Kind of a collector's addition. Though personally, I would use the heck out...

Re: Vote: Kick? Choil? Forward? Other?
I’m firmly in the ‘handle forward’ camp for larger knives, although I don’t mind the others once in a while. The Caribbean converted me, then the Rockjumper was the final nail in the coffin for other designs. .... To be honest I think my appreciation of handle forward designs (especially for work) ...

Re: How much did you spend on Spyderco brand products in 2023?
A sizeable chunk of my departmental budget went on knives and sharpening kit this year, plus my own personal purchases pushes it to about $2200.
I tend to buy multiple items in each order as shipping from the USA to SG is not cheap. That’s my official reason and I’m sticking to it![😂](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f602.svg)

The Caribbean converted me, then the Rockjumper was the final nail in the coffin for other designs. For smaller knives I quite like a choil (D’fly, lil native, UKPK, etc). To be honest I thin...

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..
A light golden-sandy brown colour would contrast nicely if that’s your bag. That's very different from what I had been thinking, but I can imagine it and like it. I like it a lot. I once saw a custom knife maker do that combo and it looked really nice. I’m not one for shades of brown normally, so y...

Had a bit of a brainwave earlier and installed my galley V into my chainsaw vice. It was the work of a few seconds to tilt it down on the left side so it became 15 degrees from vertical on the serration side rod (just placed my sharpmaker with a rod in it in front of the galley v rod and matched the...

Re: MagnaCut Fine Edge Retention
Spyderco’s Magnacut mule for me has been significantly better than S30V with a polished edge. Where it really comes into its own though (in my use at least) has been with a dual grit edge. I will never waste my time on a polished edge again.

I’m going to hold my hands up and say I can’t actually tell any measurable difference between the two
I use them interchangeably and they both sharpen SE stuff just fine. I’d be BS-ing if I pretended I could tell the difference in a blind test.

Re: Spyderco Models We Need In FULL SE
The chisel grind commonly on SE blades might be an issue with larger fixed blade knives though due to its inherent directional bias in the cut ![🤔](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f914.svg)

I do believe we need more fixed blades with TEETH as well. I hope to hear from more of you. This! 👆🏻 I am holding out for the Jumpmaster 2 like a kid for Christmas! Any larger fixed blade with an SE edge and a tough steel would be great for the harsh slashing and hacking work common in a variety of...

On further reflection I feel your wife and her knife proclivities would make for an entertaining children’s book series, charting her off piste adventures with a smorgasbord of different steels. https://i.postimg.cc/wTQnnCs8/download.png I enjoyed that picture a great deal! I have been enjoying going down a pretend path inventing whimsical things your wife might actually be doing in secret that could cause the damage we are seeing here. For example, when she borrowed your Rock Jumper and pulled ‘crafts’ out of thin air as justification for borrowing it, in actuality sh...

Re: Ok, could it be that LC200N fares better against Magnacut than some might think?
JoviAl, I haven't used magnacut yet, but I've used H1, H2 and LC200N. I'd put LC200N's edge holding around VG10 with a typical edge. Oddly enough with a very coarse finish (coarser than diamond sharpmaker rods, 200-400 grit) LC seems to hold an edge a little better for me than VG10 for some reason....

Re: Caribbean Clip Screw Hole Problem
Just thinking outside the box here but rather than having to buy new screws or send it to CS, if you need it to work right now a bit of 220 grit silicon carbide paper and a splash of water will make short work of thinning out the scale on the left side just in the spot you need.

So, concerning my question about LC vs MC Erics comments in the new blade HQ vid are really interesting - see here https://youtu.be/32eKN-YgoEY?feature=shared , starting at about 16:40: Just some quotes from the vid: - "...very similar attributes in both of them.." - "... "as fa...

Re: Sage 5 in REX 121 + burnt orange
Same. I like the sage LW but I don’t own one yet as I’ve always thought it a bit small and S30V is not my favourite. Rex121 would be fun to try in a smaller blade.kennethsime wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 9:47 pmThere are a few knives in front of it, but there’s a good chance this is my first Sage.
