Re: Crucarta Manix 2
Same here Jeff - was hoping for a KJ exclusive, happy to see a non LW and love the materials used. I have put a stop on my Spydie-spending, at least until I recover from upgrading a couple of pistols. This one will force me out of my self imposed ban ….

Re: Magnacut Paramilitary 2
I’d imagine like the Para 3 LW - no liners as per standard PM2 or Para 3, just enough steel to support the compression lock.
No doubt someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Salt 2 Wharncliffe: gone for good or CQI incoming?
I’m going to start a rumor ….. it’s going because of the incoming Native 5 Salt Wharncliffe in MagnaCut …… To the OP. I agree it is a cracker lightweight EDC. My only negative is I am not a fan of the delica handle shape. Even with that issue (bit small for me), the blade shape is a stand out in day...

Re: Poll: Which Golden Model Do You Want to See in 15V Next?
Today, I notice the Military2 and the Native5 are tied. To what extent do blade-length restrictions factor into some votes for the Native5, I wonder. I was pretty excited to see the M2 get bumped up in the polls. I think that blade length laws are one factor. Other folks just don’t see the need for...

Re: What are your top 5 favorite steels?
Over the last few years S90V, M390/204p/20CV, Cruwear, Elmax, and 3V have been favorites. Elmax and 3V specifically for fixed blades. If I can split between EDC folders and camp/bushcraft fixed blades, my 2023 pick is - Folders - S90V, Cruwear, M390/204p/20CV, 15V, and MagnaCut. Maxamet and K390 are...

Re: Problem: Uneven Grinds (MINE not Spyderco's)
Hello Bolster. How you have it now, I would hit the edge with a sharpie marker and try it. Just use a fine stone and you will see where it is hitting the blade. Re-mark the edge and adjust as you go. I think it would be more coincidence than the rule if it so happens the spine is perpendicular. I th...

Re: Problem: Uneven Grinds (MINE not Spyderco's)
Off the top of my head, but have you considered the possibility that the bevel changes in width because the thickness of the blade changes with the distal taper? When sharpening freehand, one can compensate but a fixed system is just that -- fixed. This was my thought too. The blade is thicker towa...

Re: That darn Subvert!
Hey Giant. No judgement from me on the make, model or maker. I don’t own one and never handled one. I have one Spyderco I had a similar experience to you. A sprint that I bought, largely on the opinions of others. Being on the other side of the world, I had no chance of try before you buy. Like you,...

Re: Maxamet Blade Finishes
I think you are right. I’m not a professional metal worker, so I don’t pretend to be an authority. In my mind I think of ‘satin’ as the finish short of ‘polished’. I am sure our resident metal workers will chime in and correct me. Are both those blades Maxamet. If they are, it highlights the differe...

Good price at $11 under the base model S30V. It’s a shame KJ only sends to the US.

Re: Will Taiwan, Japan, and China Spyderco be moving to Golden?
Hi Cycleguy, Not likely. sal I like that reply Sal. It got me thinking about ‘likely’ and Spyderco. It probably wasn’t ‘likely’ to the broader knife community in 1981 that a bloke and his wife would patent a hole in a knife blade and put a pocket clip on a folder. Probably also not likely the commo...

Re: Sage 5 Upgrade
Hey Greg, Welcome to the forum! Here’s one option for aftermarket scales. Votix EDC (Victoria, Australia company) also does carbon fiber scales for the Sage 5 LW. I have his carbon fiber sets for my BM Bugout (carbon fiber and blue G10 liners) and PM2. Both outstanding quality. He does good work, b...

Looks like AWT scales (no liners).

Seems ‘blue’ has caught my attention. I have inbound a set of Lynch NW Service Blue titanium scales for a Delica. The Super Blue/SUS410 Delica blade would go well with it ….. love the idea of a Native Chief blue LW in Spy27 ….. incredible looking Stretch 2 XL Damascus steel and blue Nishijin glass f...

The HT is almost the same.
Could the HRC might be an issue?

Re: I have a confession. I don't like N690
I don’t have a lot of experience with N690. Is it N690 in general, or just that made by the Italian manufacturer. The reason I ask is I had a M390 steel I was disappointed in from a reputable Italian company. It was a pole apart from other M390/20CV/204P I own.
