Re: CPM 15V Sprint sharpening and performance thread
I thought Maxamet has a higher carbide volume So what's left for Maxamet? Perhaps someone will go away and ‘tweak’ it to shoot Maxamet’s performance even higher! Long term? I am not in manufacturing, but I can see the factors at play - cost and time of manufacturing vs demand/profit. The difficulti...

Re: Blade HQ Mint Green M4 Manix LW
The only coated Manix 2 M4 was the natural G10 one a few years ago. They also had the Manix 2 XL G10 before that.
To my knowledge they haven’t released a DLC bladed LW.

Re: I think we’re reaching the limit
Seriously. What is the ethical solution to this moral dilemma? [/quote] This kind of discussion always seems to trigger emotional responses! Generally I stay out of those threads. My thoughts, that mean no offense to anyone - That’s the beauty of being a grown up in a country where you get to make s...

Re: Scratches on Blade with Venev Stones?
Hello @Bolster. I believe you are right, it is the swarf. When I got my KME and initially used it, a very similar thing happened. I remember emailing the guys at Oldawan Tools (where I bought the sharpening system) and they explained what happened. Obviously when new, the stones release some of the ...

Re: Gentleman’s Knife Recommendation
A lot of great suggestions. I look at it a little differently. For me, a wedding is a traditional day and I think deserves a traditional knife. Something like a C27 Jess Horn would have been perfect. That would be hard to find now. When my son got married I gave him a Benchmade Proper in CF with an ...

Re: Salt 2 vs Native 5 Salt
I have both and prefer the N5. For me, the N5 handle is more filling for my XL hands and I like a forward/index finger choil in knives of this size. I find myself chocking up when working.

Re: What is this??
Great looking knife. This had me looking at the Temperance 2 vs the Mules. I first thought the Mules pretty much occupy this space and are heaps cheaper, so why resurrect the T2. 124 mm long (close to 5 inch), 4 mm thick blade in VG10. Pinned micarta and a cool looking leather sheath. The mules are ...

Re: Loctite vs Not?
I rarely ever use loctite. If I use anything, I found thread tape (plumbers tape) and the right torque fixes most issues. I put thread tape on a few of my different knives pivot screws as security. I find that’s all I really need to use to overcome the vibration issues that cause screws/bolts to bac...

Re: Convexed 15V
Edu-ma-cate me on the advantages of a convexed edge. Is that the same as an appleseed edge? Why do I need one? Whenever they come up in conversation, why is there a chorus of praise for them? If only there were a learned professor who could explain it to me... Footnote: I notice that Hapstone (make...

Re: Sharpening for a complete novice
Smart idea to practice on cheap knives. I don’t think there are any terrible systems, just inexperienced operators. Practice plays a big part, bigger than steel type and system used. If you want to put edges on that are close (in some cases better) to factory edges, get a guided/clamp system. Your b...

Re: DLT Exclusive Para 3 Cruwear DLC
Never had a regular para 3. How does it compare to the lightweight? Hello Sethwm. I have the standard Para 3 LW (BD1N) and 2 regular G10 models (Maxamet and CTS204P). The descriptions on the Spyderco site show the LW weighs an ounce less than the regular G10. I realize for the hiking crowd that oun...

Re: Respectful feedback and ideas regarding 15V sprint runs
RustyIron’s post says it better than I could. I will add one thing further that is a positive to the sprint runs. Beau’s work (and others here) has exposed me to a whole lot of credible dealers I never knew existed. Endorsed by the good folk on the forum. Being one of those ‘outsiders’ (to the US), ...

Never heard of a ‘atlatl’. But looking at the clip, seems very similar to our (Australian) ‘woomera’.
