Re: Corrosion Reports
Is packing tape something you have used to prevent corrosion before? I am curious if that would work. I wouldn't have thought to try packing tape.
No. Just occurred to me today. I definitely think it might be worth a try. I imagine the important thing will be to make sure the edges are well ...

MagnaCut Mule after 6 months in the kitchen. Rinsed and towel-dried after each use, which was maybe once a week. No dishwasher. No corrosion preventative under its G-10 scales, but there will be from now on!

Re: Watu choil
I would not remove the nub. When open it prevents your index finger from sliding onto the edge. While closing, it also prevents a cut inside the lock cutout here when it slams shut against your finger:

Re: Watu choil
What is there not to like about the Watu? Slim handle, thin blade, 20CV, light weight, it is a gem.
Then there is the little "bite" when closing the blade.
Ok, so has anyone trimmed a bit of the choil, if so can we see a picture
The Watu's choil-hitting-finger problem definitely was an issue ...

Re: Lost my pivot screw
Sounds interesting for sure.
I have had stripped screws with Teflon tape on copper. I know it is completely different, but I switched to Teflon paste and never looked back. I feel the same with loctite vs. a tape or string. Afraid something in the way may encourage a mis-threading. Probably just ...

Re: Lost my pivot screw
One of the first things I do is add a small drop of blue loctite. Get the action just tighter than what I like and let sit for 24 hours without opening. Seems to work well every time for me.
Or you could try the no-Locite, no-mess thread locking solution - strong sewing thread!
1. Lay a 1.5 ...

Nice photo. Not just in terms of a knife photo but also very atmospheric!
Looks sort of like a 1 second exposure, with the blurred receding water?
The Pacific Salt 2 handle color comes ...

ChrisinHove, quirky looks = a futuristic Delica, maybe?!
I know they divide opinion but I'm OK with the carbon fiber / G10 laminate scales. They do lean towards gentleman's rather than tactical - but they feel good in the hand and seem to wear well.

Re: Watu lock stick (or lockstick)
A well-made knife - easy to take apart and reassemble.
The pivot bushing adds smoothness and stability.
All screws on both sides thread into the pivot pin / standoffs.
All the latter have flats mating with D-holes in the R-side liner.
Pivot adjustments can be with either pivot screw.

Re: Watu lock stick (or lockstick)
I'm posting these photos to show the near-fatal damage I did to the lock bar and tang locking faces in trying to solve the lock stick problem (before realizing that it's locking depth that's the determining factor).
As I've already said, smoothing off and polishing the locking faces had NO ...

Re: Watu lock stick (or lockstick)
So it applies to the PM2 and Shaman as well. You diagnosed the same cause - locking depth.
And you managed to bend the lock bar the exact amount needed.
I didn't need to go that far but really interesting to hear that it worked for you!
Yes it seems like the issue is found in a ...

Re: Watu lock stick (or lockstick)
I've found that a tiny amount of lube on the stop pin where the tab slides usually cures any sticking issues.
Yup. Just tried that. A VERY GOOD IDEA!
I've now been able to tighten down the L-side pivot screw all the way, hard.
Now, I'm just getting a very light stick occasionally, which is ...

Re: Watu lock stick (or lockstick)
Ended up bending the lockbar out a smidge, and it was gone. Did the same thing to a Shaman not long after, worked like a charm.

Re: Watu lock stick (or lockstick)
I was considering Watu, but tip looks thin like paper.
Yes, it's certainly no PM2!
The actual measured spine thickness is:
At the blade apex - 2.45 mm = 0.096 inch.
5 cm from the tip - 2.06 mm = 0.081 inch.
4 cm from the tip - 1.75 mm = 0.069 inch.
2 cm from the tip - 1.16 mm = 0.046 inch.
1 ...

Watu lock stick (or lockstick)
My first post on this forum...
I recently bought a Watu. Great knife but turned out to have the dreaded lock stick.
No amount of breaking in made any difference. Running it with locking surfaces lubricated or dry made no difference.
By this point the dealer was showing no stock so, rather than ...
