On knives I carry for outdoor activities that aren't already hi-viz (e.g., a Salt with yellow handle), I put a loop of blaze orange paracord through the lanyard hole to make it easier to find the knife when I inevitably drop it in the underbrush. So I do use the lanyard hole some times.

Re: Post up your Rit dye projects..

I dyed my Salt the most unfortunate shade of pea green. Here's my unfortunate plum purple with and odd hint of brown Yojumbo scales. The color was supposed to be "smokey blue"--that's probably why there's a little brown in it--but I mixed the dye too strong, which was especially foolish o...

Re: VG10 HRC

If Spyderco ever does change to a different blade steel in it's Japanese models I will sure be curious as to which blade steel could possibly dethrone it.

Unfortunately, there is no shop near me so anything I buy is site unseen.
Some larger retailers such as Knife Center have videos showing the knife in hand… I find this can help determine the probable size and fit in hand.

Re: Good second Spyderco

As you can see, you are quickly recommended nearly the entire catalog.

Best to find a retailer with a wide selection near you…. Then you will at
least get an idea of what Spyderco offers.

Hopefully the factory, workers and families were spared the carnage shown on our news.

One can dream…. However, as you know, the UKPK is pretty close. If you overlay them, they are very close in all dimensions. Anything is possible… a nested G10 UKPK would be more likely.

Okay…. We determined a Fixed won’t fold (supposedly) and Folders will Fold (at some point).

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?

I wasn’t born a lefty, but I’m mostly a lefty now due to injuries. I find right handed comp locks the easiest to use and liner Locks the hardest. I thought about getting a lefty PM2, but I’m so use to doing the right handed one left handed, I don’t see the point. I tend to steer away from liner lock...
