So long as you keep your blade and sheath clean and free from any prolonged exposure to excess moisture or acidity, this will be a much nicer format to experience these non-stainless steels, IMO. That is unfortunately, hard to do in our PNW during fall hunts. It's hard to believe how dry we are now...

What about the corrosion resistance?

Like I said, I know M398 has great corrosion resistance and edge retention, but I am afraid it will chip on bones or break in joints

My thought too. In a fixed knife, I tend to want a tougher blade. I did recently pick up a ZDP-Stretch 2 primarily as aback up knife for skinning and cleaning pigs. It is a perfect knife design for many things: fishing, camping food prep, butchering. Even a slight steel improvement will make it very appealing.
I personally would buy it immediately.
