Re: Rex 45 vs K390?
I personally think both of these steels hold up amazingly well in terms of edge retention. The the two knives below still look basically new, and I’ve used both quite a bit for food prep…(I know - not what most people would think of) along with my Spydiechef. They make a great trio in this applicati...

Re: Reveal 14 Live!
That’s too bad that we don’t get hard copies of the Reveals anymore…they were always the best “junk” mail of the year… I’m most excited about the Native Chief LW Magnacut, as well as the Manix 2 XL CruWear, but this is a great reveal overall. The Bodacious is cool, but doesn’t really appeal to me th...

Re: I Went Crazy
As an aside, I have to give props to the Chaparral in CF with XHP. It’s the knife I’d take as a “gentleman’s folder” most of the time. It will perform better than anything in its class that costs much more, and it looks good enough to be carried unless it’s a super fancy event…great knife.

Re: I Went Crazy
Bumping an old thread of mine… So, after a year and a half of using Spyderco knives, which is my all around EDC winner? Manix 2 LW S110V (C101DBL2): This isn’t by any means my favorite knife in terms of looks, finish, or fidget factor. And I would love to “upgrade” the ball cage and lighten the spri...

Re: Spyderco 2023 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming
No telling but may be soon. PE has not shipped to retailers yet it seems as it also has not hit the SFO yet. SE hit the SFO first and was available on retailers websites a few days later. Thanks. I hope that it’s soon… I have plenty of other great knives, but this will be my first ever experience w...

Re: Spyderco 2023 Lists: Delivered & Upcoming
Sorry if I missed it in the comments, but does anyone know when Knifecenter will begin shipping the PE Native 5 Magnacut? I’ve had my preorder in since last May, and I see that they have the SE in stock.

Re: Reveal 11 Live!
I also just received mine in the mail today…came on my birthday, so that was a cool present. The Manix 2 in CPM-15V, as well as the Native Chief Sprints are at the top of my list…but… …I’m still waiting on the Native 5 Magnacut that I preordered from Knifecenter six months ago…anyone have a timefram...

Re: Demko AD-20.5 CPM-3V Knifecenter Exclusive
I got the new textured ti clip point today…man, it’s really nice. I think that I prefer it to the smooth finish, but it’s hard to decide. The build quality, fit and finish, and action are both equally excellent: 2BA53BA2-354F-4E1A-9323-F22F3AA1E128.jpeg F4B94BEF-97EC-442C-B3EE-F053A06D577F.jpeg 45B0...

Re: Demko AD-20.5 CPM-3V Knifecenter Exclusive
There is a new variant out as a Knifecenter exclusive…this time with textured ti scales and 3V (both blade shapes)…Looks like there are plenty in stock for the moment: https://www.knifecenter.com/listing/andrew-demko-textured-titanium-handle-folders?utm_source=weekend-special&utm_medium=email&am...

Re: Large Folder Recommendations
i have that same recon 1. it's a good one too. i agree that cold steel is mostly a joke, but some of their stuff is really legit. you got some good ones there. time to buy a new spyderco just to remind yourself. ;) Lol - I just blew (and exceeded) my current Spyderco budget, but I know that it won’...

Re: Large Folder Recommendations
FINAL UPDATE (I think): First, I’m sorry that this turned into a Cold Steel thread. I had no intention that happening. I had mentioned that I had a lead on an Xl Recon 1 a few posts back. Well, when I handled it today, I had to have it to add to my little recently acquired collection. 01B6FBAC-7AD7-...

Re: Large Folder Recommendations
I found an old picture from 2013 which I took intentionally to show my largest and smallest folders: Fox Knives Tracker Meskwaki N690 Micarta with a 5.5” blade length versus Spyderco Ladybug VG-10 Stainless Tattoo with a 1.9” blade length! https://i.imgur.com/0nLsiFs_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=t...

Re: Large Folder Recommendations
I think that the XL Espada will make any knife look :winking-tongue small. except maybe the opinel 13. :rofl http://tacticalreviews.co.uk/wp/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/29-Cold-Steel-Espada-XL-size-2-P1260291.jpg Yeah - that’s just insane…I’ve read that those giant Opinels are not that great…just pr...

Re: Large Folder Recommendations
UPDATE: I received my 4-Max Scout today. My initial impression is that for what I paid (less than $60 total) for a brand new knife of this size and durability, it’s completely a good purchase. The build quality is better than I expected, the lockup is rock solid, the ergos are very good, and the bla...

Native 5 Magnacut
Sorry for creating this thread, as I’m sure that there is plenty of discussion about this…and I have no problem with it being deleted as soon as I can get pointed in the right direction. Anybody know when the Magnacut Native 5 is going to drop? I have a preorder in, but Knifecenter has no informatio...

Re: Large Folder Recommendations
it's crazy how small that recon 1 looks in that picture. i need to get an espada. i already have another knife on it's way to me right now though and i'm anxiously awaiting the ayoob sprint, so i need to slow down. I think that the XL Espada will make any knife look small. Honestly, the large size ...

Re: Large Folder Recommendations
i feel a little guilty here. :rofl i don't really consider the resilience to be a hard use folder, but it is a great knife. if you're still looking for another spyderco in this size, i wouldn't hesitate to get the s35vn version. i only have the 8cr13mov version, but even that is a great knife. i ty...

Re: Large Folder Recommendations
Too many replies here since I last checked to address each one of them, but I very much appreciate the comments and recommendations. I got the XL Espada and Recon 1. They are both at the farm, but I’ll post pics when I go back there next week. My thoughts are that the Recon is basically exactly what...

Re: Large Folder Recommendations
To be clear: I don´t have, never even held either a Yojumbo or a a Yojimbo. But do you really literally mean "break the blade" or rather "break the tip"? I can´t imagine that you´d actually break a 3.7 mm stock blade with a sabre hollow grind (should make the blade even stronger...
