Re: Good second Spyderco

It would be best to try some out. For an EDC without a specific purpose, or limitation (like boating knife), I think ergonomics are most important factor, followed by knife geometry, lock type, last knife steel. YMMV. Knives feel very different to different people. For me, I always go back to Native...

Re: How many Spyderco Knives did you buy in 2023?

... ...Spent 2023 trying to like the PM2 and Native 5, and it turns I do not lol.... :exploding-head ... that's a bold approach: You actually bought 7 (!) PM2s and 3 Native 5s just for "trying to like" these models (and then you even did not..)?! No critique, just a question: Why not just...

Re: Spymyto is hot!

Is it normal for Reveal release to be 3+ months later? Will a new Reveal be released before the last Reveal knives are available? With only a couple years here, I'm still pretty new at this. Also I presume the blade thickness is to accommodate the flipper tab screw. Takes space for a screw and threa...

Re: Caribbean Clip Screw Hole Problem

Since you asked for experiences, I had a middle body screw come off a new Pacific Salt on my second day of carry and almost no use. When I went to screw it back in, it dropped in the hole and only turned about a 1/4 turn-ish before stopping. I didn't want to strip so, I didn't force it. I have been ...

Re: 2023 - Did your preferences change or stay the same?

Coupled with the experience of a PM2 opening in my pocket (it fell in my pocket, not clipped on), I appreciate a sturdy lock and firmly closed knife. What happened to make it open? Not really sure, I failed to clip it on my pocket (I was working on something and got lazy), fell to the bottom of the...

Re: Looking for thoughts on Caly 3.5 vs. GB2

Wow, thanks for all the responses and great photos! A lot to chew on here. Ramonade, you are right, I prefer the edge and GB look overall. To Doc Dan et al, good observation on size, I guess since I have Chaparral, Delica and Native 5 in various runs, I went larger. This may be anathema here, but I ...

Looking for thoughts on Caly 3.5 vs. GB2

Hello! Looking for a stout fully lined folding knife that preferably has backlock, but definitely not compression lock (i have quite a few). The sweet spot in range for blade length is 2.5"-3.25". Ultimately, I'd love a fully lined Stretch in G10 (not the XL) with an upgraded steel, but th...

Re: 2023 - Did your preferences change or stay the same?

I have a greater appreciate for both back locks and sturdier/heftier (feeling) knives. Since my work started referencing their policy of knives with 2.5" or under regulation, I have been carrying my Native 5, which I love, especially the back lock. Coupled with the experience of a PM2 opening i...

Re: New to Spyderco and have a Para 3, just had it open and bite me while in pocket

I had a PM 2 bite me. I missed clipping it in the pocket when i was working and it fell to the bottom of my pocket and at some point opened. I am diligent now about ensuring its clipped and pushed to the back of my pocket. It never happened before, and hasn't happened, since on any knife. Still love...

Re: FOMO or No?

I had FOMO to a great extent when I started buying and it crept up again at the seconds sale this year. But I've only been at this a couple years and I'm likely going to start selling the knives I don't carry. I rather it get used by someone else. So maybe that's a sign that the FOMO fever is passin...

Re: Spyderco Online Factory Seconds Sale!

I saw Spyderco posted an apology on their social media accounts and was listening. That speaks volumes. As they also stated they were continuing to listen, so I'll add my experience as a point of reference. It took me 3.5 hours to order, I too started 5 minutes before the sale began and was not on a...

K390 Leafjumper or stretch

Hello, After picking up a PS in LC200, I forgot how much I love FRN and a contoured grip. Looking for some thoughts on the LeafJumper vs Stretch in K390. Both are close in size with FRN. Looking at thoughts for an EDC. The stretch looks almost exactly like a PM2 but with backlock and FRN, not sure h...
