Endela K390 - first sharpening last night on CGS 40, 20, 10m diamond stones and stropped with gunny juice 6m on leather. Came back screaming sharp, ghost-like. Endela is a stellar knife, a full year of work on the factory edge first, used it notably to install 80’ of French drain pipe and fabric. Wa...

Re: Stonewashed Blade
Old thread, but interested to learn stonewash tool steel helps stave off rusting, but on maxamet it develops such a cool patina. I got the Sage 1 Maxamet last week, cool ergos and seemed like the best model for the steel, but would way prefer the stonewash to satin finish it comes in. Haven’t been a...

Yes they have! Sage II hand sanded with tumbled finish. http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa172/rdarb4/DSCN2015.jpg … @Gull Wing, any chance you could repost one of the photos here? Without it, bit lost on the thread. I got the Sage 1 Maxamet; it’s the only max blade with a Satin finish (why?) cur...

Re: Sage 1 Maxamet: This goes to 11
Thanks gooeytek, abbazaba and others for posting your Sage 1 Max photos. I bought one yesterday on the KC sale, decided I had to try the ergos and it made the most sense to try maxamet in the thin slicer blade style as it’s intended purpose(?), even if the satin finish won’t patina well, which I thi...

Re: Sage 1 Maxamet: This goes to 11
Mine quickly became one of my most carried knives. It is a beast of a slicer and I love the ergos. I have let a natural patina develop on mine but with regular maintenance I haven’t found it to be particularly prone to corrosion. Photo of the patina? I wish the Sage max came in stonewash blade to p...

Re: Sage 1 Maxamet Feedback Thread
Sage 1 Maxamet - the model and ergos look great, and I think the steel would be fun to try. Does Maxamet with its insane hardness perform better in this slicey thin blade stock vs the Native 5 stocky style? Less likely to chip with thicker bte? Or doesn’t matter- it’s always a light duty slicer? Tha...

Sharpening & Calculating Ideal Bevel Height (trigometry!)
Hey folks, here’s a trig question just for fun. I’m looking for a way to gauge my sharpening accuracy by calculating what the bevel height (c) should be vs measuring actual with a ruler in mm. 1. When sharpening (I freehand, but w/ any method), if a proper bevel angle is held, shouldn’t the bevel he...

…the Delica is the perfect size and feel for most of my daily needs. The first time I opened it without Spydie-flicking I knew this was the one… I have just 5 models, but I’m in the same Delica 4 camp today. Mine is the M390 navy frn - stays crazy sharp. Great ergos, right amount of cutting edge, s...

The Green Orange (that's its name now) is finished.... https://i.imgur.com/mHQq8DR.jpg @Ramonade - incredible scales, thanks for posting. Do you use corbys .1875" pins w/ .25" heads in these 3 spots on the handle? I'm about to work on my first one and looking to get that same even pin dis...

Re: MT39P – CPM 15V Mule Team Dropping Soon!
On right at 9am MDT and snagged one alongside a dragonfly sb. The site took about a min to load each page, and 404'd on order placement, but then kicked through on refresh. Overall no major complaints and thrilled for the opty to try 15v after missing the folder sprints. Mule Team is such a great pr...

Re: New Sprint Drop Coming Soon!
Anyone get it in the hand yet? First impressions? Curious if the cladding is wavy on all or a cleaner line on some? Also kinda split between SuperBlue (aggressively sharp edge) vs. V-Toku2 (tougher edge, less aggressive), both great Japanese high tungsten steels (I think?), but maybe the latter is b...

Re: Homemade Mule Scale Recommendations
Good thread, I'm in the same boat years later - I have my first Mule (MT33P, CPM REX 76) and hope to get one more. Time to build handles. Appreciate this commentary on handle width. What about material? I've heard G10 and CF are both fiberglass like, sanding can be dangerous (obvi need mask, gloves,...

Re: My collection and thoughts (so far)
Great feed, reviving years later with related question - Does anyone follow guidelines on building their collection? I'm at 4-5 spydies and want to get new sprints, but feels strange buying the same model in a new steel. Right now, my plan had been a different steel in each model, all silver (black ...

Re: MAXAMET VS. GIRLY STEELS
& now 15V vs MAXAMET - this can of worms is still open. From the Spyderco steel elements chart - 15V is much harder with 8.5 extra points of vanadium (plus Mo and more Si that harden the steel?), but Maxamet still has 15 points tungsten. Other key indicator shows 15V with more chromium for rust ...

If sales of the Leafjumper are adequate, what's the likelihood we'd see handle color and/or steel variants before 2024? I like this knife shape a bunch, but want to punch it up a bit.

Any chance it might get a sprint run steel at some point?

Re: MT33P - CPM REX 76 Mule Team Release!
I bought 1x MT33P this morning - my first mule! Interesting experience, all the hype... yet this model still hasn't sold out hours later. Does that mean folks don't like the steel - per Larrin, high hardness, mid-low toughness, more likely to chip? Looking forward to testing and exchanging feedback....
