Re: Dragonfly vs. Lil' Native
It’s just preference honestly. Get what better suits your design preferences ideally based on a mix between what aesthetics you prefer and performance you’re looking to get from a spyderco folder in this size. An obvious thing to point out would be the lil native is a bit more stout and hand filling...

Re: Chaparral Slipit?
It doesn’t. Keep in mind that the Urban and Squeak models feature a simplified slipit construction compared to the UKPK. AFAIK so far only the UKPK has the more involved and subjectively much nicer feeling mechanism. A Chap slippie could be marketed much more premium than the basic Urban and could ...

Re: Chaparral Slipit?
I realize there are differences but I still think it’s too close to the ukpk and urban to compete in their split joint line. It just doesn’t feel necessary with designs already very similar in the slipit line. I’d rather the chaparral stay as it was intended. Taichung made lockback gentlemens folder...

Re: Just a knife design sketch
Hey scandi, I greatly appreciate your interest. currently still gathering all the materials I need to make my first knife, I’m going to be trying the file jig method, i got the eye bolt, and some files, and I already got some 1095 carbon steel in that I’m going to be working with on my first blades....

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
... Leaf shapes also make a very good geometry for self defense, as well as a general purpose tool with the belly to slice with. The design works great for what it’s intended for I found that a long, straight cutting edge (like the Stretch offers) actually slices better or at least with more power,...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
I would disagree @bolster, it looks like the blade plays the role of a little 3” spear. Spears are purpose built for toughness and tip thrust penetration, and they’re pretty popular design options in the self defense side of the knife world. The way spyderco does their leaf shape is also intended to...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
Wharnies are more effective slashers, spears are more effective for stabbing. But for versatility and as a general tool, you want a little belly. That’s why I believe sal largely favors the leaf, even in MBC focused designs

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
I hope they bring the original lil temperance leaf back for a sprint made golden, Colorado. really one of the best knives in the company’s history. A little bit more MBC focused than the current 3rd gen.. -pointier and more distal tapered leaf -old school hardware, rounded pivot pin, one of the cool...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
I've been admiring the photos of the Lil' Temp 3 in the Spyderco Product Catalog, and noticed it has an unusually thick 4mm blade that's just under 3" long. Can someone explain the design to me -- I don't quite understand the logic of this knife, despite the catalog description, and despite re...

Re: Lil' Temp 3 & Short Thick Blades
I’ve only owned the og green lil temp serrated leaf, but The lil temp platform is my favorite hard use folding knife from spyderco, I love the fistful of handle feel. I imagine the hefty blade thickness is an attribute for hard use and self defense. Leaf shapes also make a very good geometry for sel...
