Re: My 90's era mini knife needs help

Thanks for the welcome RadioactiveSpyder. Those are some nice looking hawkbills you have. I might have access to some dental picks that I could use. I knew when I bought the knife that Spyderco was a high end brand, but until now I wasn't aware of the kind of following it has. I almost feel like I'v...

Re: My 90's era mini knife needs help

Yeah... I was real happy with the initial attempt. I'm going to work with it a bit more, give it some CLP, and clean it up. I'm gonna buy my wife the H1 LB3 for her keyring now that mine is fully functioning I don't need to replace it now. It never really dawned on me until today how long I've actua...

Re: My 90's era mini knife needs help

Ladybug93, Yeah I miss those days. Our malls had awesome stores, we still have a couple of them here but they don't have nothing as cool as when I was growing up. I went into a knife shop a few weeks ago possibly looking for a replacement for this one, but all he had was cheap Chinese junk. I just w...

Re: My 90's era mini knife needs help

Everyone!!! Thank you for all of your advice, tips, and welcomes... I went to see what an old toothbrush with some foam hand soap would do. So I scrubbed with the toothbrush, getting the tufts down into where the tang is and brushed. It made a bit of difference, just look at these after-pictures com...

Re: My 90's era mini knife needs help

Thanks Deacon! Will do. No guarantee it will help but, since the front end of the lockbar sees to be sitting a bit above the handle, there's at least a chance a good cleaning of the lock notch in the blade might resolve the lockup issue. That's easiest to do with the knife closed. If that doesn't he...

Re: My 90's era mini knife needs help

Hey JR... Thanks for the compliment. I can still remember getting this one. I was in Bel Air Mall in Mobile, AL and they had a shop called Smith Knife & Stone and they had many different knives and swords. I wanted something to keep on my keychain and this was the one I got. It's hard to believe...

Re: My 90's era mini knife needs help

Mike thanks for the welcome. Thanks for the information. I'm going to check out the link. I thought that the corrosion was going to be it. I've seen youtube videos of people who have done restoration on many things that were corroded. I guess I could go the warranty route. I just thought I'd check t...

My 90's era mini knife needs help

Hello all, Please forgive me, I'm a newbie, just joined a few minutes ago. I've owned this Spyderco since around 1992. I've had it on my key ring the entire time, and it has tirelessly served me well. It's never had any sharpening or maintenance other than cleaning it off after use, and impressed th...
