Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread

You are welcome. I did want to add: while it’s an interesting anecdote, and he is one of those people who can handle himself in those sorts of situations, it points up the need to have other strategies that keep you out of trouble. He had a tendency to get himself in these scrapes. I called him on i...

Re: Help with the Spydie Chef

I would check the pivot. I had a good deal of blade play and a little bit of lock rock, on a PM2, that I was able to eliminate with a bit of tinkering.

Re: vg-10 observations (and SPY27 it's seeming)

Well, SPY27 is a great steel no doubt, from my own experience, if nothing else, but it is a good deal more expensive, at the moment, than VG-10. A steel that might be in the same class would be BD1N, at least price-wise. I’m liking the edge I get with either SPY27, or BD1N, more than the edge I get ...

That’s a fair amount of rock. Can you exchange it?

Re: Help with the Spydie Chef

Try placing the knife down on a flat surface, edge up and pull up on the blade.

It’s hard to see anything with the whole knife moving around.

I would find that lock up acceptable.

Re: Delica 4 S30V scales color

I think those are for breast cancer awareness. They look pretty badass with the black blade. I keep talking myself out of buying one. “ Spyderco is proud to support Living Beyond Breast Cancer, a national nonprofit organization that seeks to create a world that understands there is more than one way...

Re: 1620 Workwear

I’ve been eyeing this stuff for a few years. I live in Carhartts, but the quality and fit has been steadily going down for a long time. I am hesitant to order online though.

One of my sisters lives up that way. Maybe I’ll stop in the next time I’m visiting.

Thanks for the info about the showroom.

Re: Martial Arts Experiences Discussion Thread

Years ago, a friend of mine was attacked by Two fellows, one of whom put a knife to his throat from behind. He was able to get control of the knife arm and ended up pointing the arm in question at the second assailant, knife and all. The fellow with the knife said, “Well, help me!”. The second fello...

NASA50,

I’m glad you came back to let us know how you liked your Sage5LW. The Taichung knives are really something special. Enjoy it in good health.

Re: did somebody say magnacut manix...?!

I can see why you might want that, the thinner blade stock, but the general thickatudeness of the Manix 2 Back Lock is what makes the knife for me. The linerless construction and Magnacut would make it pretty much a de facto Salt.

Re: did somebody say magnacut manix...?!

While we’re throwing out wish lists.. I really would like to see the return of the Manix 2 Backlock. I’d settle for that in any steel Spyderco cared to make it in, but, sure; why not Magnacut.. :)

Try waistband carry just forward of the point of the hip. Works quite well for me.

Re: Mule team T-Shirts anyone?

Okay, not on The Mule Team at this point, but had an idea for a shirt..

A mule team pulling a bread truck.

Maybe the dates the mule team has been running too? Or 1976-2022AD?

Did that get mentioned?

Just putting it out there.

Re: golden stone 15 dps base

Deadwood Knives has them in stock.

Onkata has them in stock on Amazon, shipped from Amazon.

Actually, I am seeing them as available from all the usual suspects, Blade HQ, DLT Trading.. Knife Center, etc., etc..

I’m only seeing 20 dps.

Re: dragonfly bottom of pocket carry

I have a Zome I carry clipless.

I leave the screw attached just so I know where to find it. The clip is in a hardware baggie.

It feels much better in the hand without the clip.

Sits in the pocket fine.

VG-10 is very corrosion resistant.

It will do quite well for you in your use.

Re: Tree planting.. help

Besides your Personal knives, whatever you decide to take, might I suggest picking up some knives you just don’t care about? You can get a Three pack of Morakniv Basic 511 fixed blades for under $30.00.. Carbon steel will corrode, but would be pretty good for the sort of work you are going to be doi...
