Re: Catcherman LC200N Sprint Run

I'm really pleased for all y'all finally getting a Catcherman. I got one when they first appeared, but I know most of you have been waiting for years. Hope you enjoy it!

Re: Knife that screams liner lock got the compression lock - why?

The comp lock is my least favorite of all, so I'm 100% with you. Even on knives like the PM2 and Caribbean, where it works great and is entirely appropriate, I'd prefer a liner lock or backlock. On a knife like the Rhino I have to wonder, "What were they thinking?"

Re: Chaparral

I'd like to see more steels for the Chaparral since it's one of my favorite knives. It's an exquisite, near-perfect design. Any or all of K390, S90V, SPY 27 and MagnaCut would be great. If Spyderco chose FRN rather than an exotic scale material, that would be fine. FRN is nice as is or, like Doc Dan...

I was in hopes some forum member would disagree of my posting, in regards of it's design being close to the Z.T. 0456 that was designed and made in 2016.
It's hard to disagree. They look similar. Not surprising, since they're both collaborations with Mr. Sinkevich. Beautiful designs!

There's the Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany book which is the inspiration for the Apple TV+ series. https://d28hgpri8am2if.cloudfront.net/book_images/onix/cvr9780743235457/masters-of-the-air-9780743235457_xlg.jpg https://d28hgpri8am2if.cloudfron...

Re: Masters of the Air

My dad flew 15 missions in roughly 2 months during autumn, 1944. He was shot down over Ludwigshafen in November, and spent the rest of the war in Stalag Luft 4 on the Baltic coast. By late '44, the Allies had achieved air supremacy in a general sense, but what counted to a bomber crew was who had ai...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report

I think the concern about breaking a Charisma blade is legit. I'm not worried, personally, but I'll definitely be more careful with this blade than all others in my collection. Much more careful, like paper and soft foods only. My experience with the Z-Cut, which cost me $19, is that the blade can f...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report

Charisma and D2 Tenacious will be automatic buys for me, unless way overpriced. The Charisma could blow away offerings like the QuietCarry West and Tactile Bexar by giving customers a lower-cost alternative.

The price gives me pause, but the reason I won't have one is the lack of stonewashed blade finish. :disappointed

Re: Spyderco 50th Anniversary Knife?

I know I'm in the minority on this forum, but I doubt I'll buy a 50th-anniversary knife just because it's a commemorative. It'll have to pique my interest in some other way: an old model (like the Worker or Military Model) re-imagined, dressed up or re-steeled, or else a totally new model. Even then...

Re: Cricket Lightweight

I'd buy a Slipit version. I picked up one of the early black FRN Crickets in like-new condition for a very good price a few years ago, but seldom carry it. It's nicely made and incredibly light but, like all small knives, hard for me to manipulate. When they're this small I rarely operate them one-h...

Re: Spyderco hunting folder

Hi tomi and Sal, I often used a Browning 3-blade folder to field dress deer. It was a decent compromise when the truck was a good distance away, it was getting dark, and I had to use whatever I had with me. The blades were a trailing-point locking main blade, a blunt-tipped blade for slitting the bo...

Re: My key on a knife solution

I like it. My usual key ring is on my wallet, which also contains my ID, medical insurance cards, fishing license and a credit card. I don't really need all that stuff for a bike ride, since I wear a Road ID for all outdoor activities. Plus, a long ride soaks the wallet and everything in it, which i...

Re: Calypso Jr Sprint Run Considerations

I voted ZDP/BRG and HAP40/FG, but honestly I'd be excited about any of them. I voted for a silver clip because I only like black clips with black blades and/or black scales. Again, I'd be happy with either.

Re: Enuff 2 SALT?

I probably could not resist an Enuff 2 Salt, even though it would essentially duplicate several other knives I already own. If I were designing such a knife, I would choose a high-hollow-ground blade with a 4mm spine thickness. Why? To recreate the superb feel of the OG Enuff while retaining most of...
