I don't need one, but it sure makes sense.

Re: It's All About The Heat Treat

Speaking strictly for myself, I'm in the latter camp. After one college materials science class, I knew metallurgy was not for me.

Thanks for the idea, WyoJon, and welcome to the forum.

I've noticed the very same about using a single notch, but never put 2 and 2 together.

Re: Seki Made Phil Wilson Design?

I doubt I'd buy a skinner specifically, but a bird and trout, a fillet, a boning knife... I'd be in!

Same handle as the Enuff, in Seki K390 blue!

Sure hoping so.
Isn't the VG-10 model linerless? If so, I'd expect the K390 to be as well.
Well, that's a great point. I sure hope you're right, and expect you are! For some reason I was thinking about the Stretch 2 and Police 4, rather than the XL itself. :zany

Re: stok drop point

i think you guys might be overthinking it. In my case, that's probably true. But I have to say, the plunge line is the only thing keeping me from being EXCITED about this knife. And the only reason I care about the plunge line is what nerdlock pointed out: it might make sharpening difficult with a ...

Re: There'll be a Stretch XL lightweight in K390, right?.. RIGHT?!

Yes! The K390 and Salt Stretch XLs are automatic purchases for me.

I doubt it'll happen, but I wish the K390 would be linerless!

Re: Blade type what you like?

Plain edge for me. I have a few serrated knives and, because of the great instructions from David and Vivi, I've learned how to make them sharp, but I just do a quicker and better job with a plain edge. Maybe not really better, but more consistent. Also, I find that SpyderEdge steers in cuts somewha...

Re: stok drop point

This knife begs for a regrind to make the plunge line vertical and maximize the potential of the thin bladestok. But then it's a $200 knife.

Re: Shaman in 52100 (anyone)?

I don't own a Shaman because I prefer thinner blades, but if 52100 became available I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Edited to say I'd probably buy any medium-to-large 52100 folder in a heartbeat.

Re: Carry: Tip Up / Down & Left / Right

I didn't vote, because I'm an outlier. I know I'm in the minority here, but by far the most important factor for clip placement is how that particular knife feels in hand. I don't care about tip-up or tip-down, or right-hand / left-hand carry, per se. When I get a new knife I try every clip position...

Re: H-2 vs. H-1

The H2 is out in the wild. I received an H2 Pac Salt SE. I am sure someone will get testing the H2 soon enough. I've been looking for any type of H2 Salt, and only run across an Atlantic, which I don't want. Where did you find a Pacific? National Knives had some, but they are sold out. Knife Works ...

Re: How Old Were You When You Began Carrying?

I carried some sort of knife for fishing and knocking around outdoors starting when I was 8, and have done so in those activities ever since. I never really EDC'd until in my 30s, and then only when I was away from the house. Nowadays, I usually have a knife with me all the time, even though in the ...

Re: Fat guy problem: I keep losing knives when they're clipped to my pocket

It never occurred to me to carry a knife in my front pocket until I joined this forum. That said, I've ripped 2 knives loose from my back pocket, so that might not be the best, either.

Lots of good advice in this thread, that I've never considered.

Re: Hello again and Shoutout to the Stretch XL SE

Hey Wartstein! Welcome back! I'm definitely with you on the Stretch 2 XL. I bought the PE first, and eventually gifted it to my stepson. I then bought the SE to replace it, but I admit it hasn't seen much use. In December I acquired the CruWear G-10 model. What a gem! Now I can hardly wait for the S...

Re: Was the Nirvana just too expensive?

To my eyes, the Nirvana is Spyderco's most attractive knife. I like RIL folders and I'd love to have a Nirvana, but I'm not sure what I'd do with it. At 4mm, the blade is too thick for my uses, and that added steel contributes to a weight of 4.8 oz which, though not awful, is more than I prefer. I a...
