Re: Salty Dodo

I love the idea of a Salty Dodo with a CBBL! Serrated and blacked out H2? Yes please!

Re: H2 performance for fishing

As someone who did need a marlinspike for several years of my professional career, a stand-alone one is definitely my preference. The folding ones just aren’t robust enough.

If you want to get really nerdy there’s a guy in Port Townsend who makes titanium spikes. 😁

I think I drifted off topic a ...

H1/H2, no contest.

Close behind are LC200N and Magnacut.

After that, M390.

Re: Super Wood. A wood that can be a knife?

It’s fascinating how technology runs in circles sometimes. Trunnels (tree nails) predate iron nails by several millennia and are still used occasionally for boatbuilding, and I’m sure for other specialist uses.

I love the concept of “appropriate technology:” It’s not high or low tech, but what’s ...

Re: The Stretch 2XL "Experiment"

The Stretch 2XL is a pretty fantastic knife, and I love that it was built linerless from the beginning.

All other things being equal, I will pick a linerless knife over one with a liner every time. Lighter weight and easier cleaning is much more important to me than handle flex. Maybe I'm just not ...

Re: Salt crusted Salts. Loving it.

I like Salt knives because we have high humidity, monsoon rains and typhoons several months a year.

I've always made it a point to clean my tools immediately after yardwork when I was younger, but these days the Salt series allows me the luxury to enjoy a warm cup of coffee after working ...

Re: Show me your EDC first aid kit.

I carry a two-piece edc first aid kit. I have a quart ziplock with band aids, steri strips, and other boo-boo stuff, and a gallon ziplock with stuff for life-threatening injuries. Neither bag is particularly full, and the contents change depending on what I’m doing. Usually the boo-boo kit has a ...

My first Delica was the Bento M390. I bought a second one also and I’ve never regretted it. Don’t ask how many Delicas I have now, lol.

The folks above are right, this is a dangerous place to hang out. 😂

Re: Multi-tools

Thanks! I’ve never had a Leatherman, maybe I’ll try that one out. I feel the same way, I always have a knife (or two) on me, so it feels unnecessary on a multitool. I suppose I could build a tool less one the way I want it, but that’s a rabbit hole I should probably not poke my head down yet. 😁

Re: Multi-tools

I've carried an SAK in some form or another since elementary school and I still prefer the Victorinox multitools - I've had a pair of Spirits for a few years and I just picked up a full-sized Swisstool with the bit set a few days ago - mostly because having a small metric/imperial ruler on the ...

Re: Delica Salt?

If only the answer were simple! 🙂
The Salt 2 is the closest thing to a Delica Salt. The blade shape is slightly different and the handles are linerless. Does it count as a Delica? It depends on how you want to count it. Some people say yes, some say no. Count it if you want to!

It is also ...

Re: Making the most of what you’ve got

I've often used a short machete (12-16ish inches) as an improvised drawknife, by holding the back of the blade with my off hand. For big jobs a bit of leather over the back of the blade is more comfortable, or one could wear a glove. As with the techniques described above, I wouldn't recommend that ...

I've read through a bit of this thread out of idle curiosity more than anything, but it seems I've somehow acquired a Military 2 now so I ought to contribute something. :-)

Re: MagnaMax wish list

I'd love to see some smaller folders. Ladybug/Manbug, Dragonfly, and Li/Native Lightweight would all be sweet. I've been hoping we would see S110v in one of these at some point (maybe we'll get a sprint of S110v in the Lil Native Lightweight?) but MagnaMax would also be awesome.

I'd also like a PE ...

Mm..
you could buy one knife and be quite happy with that knife.
If you buy 50 you can learn something about your preferences and what features matter for your own use.
I too have almost permanent knife choices in the different roles I use my knives, doesn't make the other knives bad purchasing ...
