Partially Serrated CombinationEdge FRN Police Please? Anyone Else Want One??
Is there anyone else pining for a CombinationEdge FRN Police? Once again I am asking for a CombinationEdge Partially Serrated Police in a handle besides Stainless Steel. Last time I asked was long before the FRN Police, and during the era where there was the G-10 Police was for those who did not wa...

Re: Another run of Whale Rescue Blade is needed.
Has Spyderco ever released an actual machete?? I'd be very interested, use my Kershaw Camp 10 all the time. Would love a Spyderco! Darn Dao is the closest I know of, but that was of very limited production, and the Schempp Rock was next closest I know of. A Whale Rescue Blade (WRB) with a plainedge...

Another run of Whale Rescue Blade is needed.
Another run of Whale Rescue blade is needed. Here is a recent example of a modified Spyderco Salt blade standing in: https://www.instagram.com/noaasanctuaries/reel/C3bUo3HvNjm/ None have been available in the retail chain for years, and there are other uses besides the eponymous one. Equipping anti-...

Re: Police 4 lightweight
Nevermind the fancy steels, I want partially serrated! Yes, I know I am in the minority, but the all Stainless versions get it, and I do not like the lack of grip on those.

Re: Military...so much handle
I too wish the military had a little more blade for the existing handle, and agree it is on the large side. That said, I still love it and it has long been my primary EDC. This is hearsay, but from what I remember Sal saying (typing): Yes, gloved hands were one of the design criteria for the Militar...

So while the process has economies of scale for production, and I can partially understand why you would not want to make more, there has not been any smaller experimentations with other steels?

Not a waterway (don't have one yet) but the Fish Hunter I use for kayaking is attached to the sheath by an extra long leather thong.

12 Inch Bread Z-cut Please
It looks like Spyderco is adding additional it's kitchen knife lines: https://www.spyderco.com/culinary/ For a few years I have been in the market for a good serrated offset handle bread knife with at least a 12 inch blade. I am sure Spyderco can do this right. Most of the ones I am seeing are only ...

Re: Bob Lum Chinese Folder Light Weight: Is it time? Would you want it?
Hi SEF, The high cost of tooling for FRN would make the project questionable. sal Perhaps a compromise is in order. Use one of the existing FRN platforms, but use the Lum Folder blade shape. Or maybe even make a Byrd version in using one of the FRN platforms. Since Byrds are made in China, there is...

Re: Carabiner clip
An interesting idea, and some design issues that come to mind: It needs to symmetric through it's thickness in the screw and bolster area in order be attachable to either the left or right sides of the knife in order to maximize the options for where it the knife is going to be carried, but I don't ...

Re: Delica Detent
The "kick" on the Delica's blade is designed to bottom out against the lug of the lock bar, leaving space between the edge and the inside surface of the handle. Unlike many traditional back lock folders, the closed blade can't be squeezed into the handle to force the edge to make contact....

Re: Well done Eric!
I think the new Dyad that Sal is developing would be a better platform for a regular blade plus a saw, since both blades will lock. Might not be much of a market for it however; the Catcherman handled saw did not last very long.

Re: How about a double edge dagger Spydie?
A double edged knife would restrict it's legality in some states and cities. The Sustain was supposed to be DE, but Sal wisely chose to allow the user to modify the false edge. Between the Sustain and the Fish Hunter, as the two most recent examples, it is pretty clear that Spyderco policy is to le...

Re: How long will I be moderated
Sucks having your responses buried in the thread by the time they are approved. A partial workaround might be to quote some of the points you are replying to, like I have done here. Too bad reddit is such a pit of scum and villainy, as the multithread format would work well for knife discussions. I...

Maybe you should email Doug Ritter and knife rights? At the very least I would lawyer up Definitely see if you can get a public defender, but things do not look good no matter what because of the way the law is being enforced. Knife Rights just filed to take this issue to the US Supreme Court to fi...

Re: Lil temperance question
Ideally, I would like an FRN Lil' Temperance with bi-directional texture and a slight 3D curve to the scale. Nested liners like the G-10 model. Steel is a question because many are complaining that S30V is less in demand because it's an "old" steel. I'm not sure of what type of steel the ...

Re: So someone saw my pocket clip and -- "You carry a knife!"...
I dare to ask Mr. Janich ... do you still carry a wharncliffe Delica ? Is it plain edge ? Yes, my back pocket knife is a Wharncliffe Delica, but SpyderEdge. It's reserved primarily for utility use, while two Yojimbo 2s are for other purposes. I opted for the serrated edge for rope, zip ties, and se...
