Re: SRS-15 / SRS-13 ?

Sal, from my paltry research this steel can be offered in a Damascus "finish" as it's referred to. Would Spyderco be interested in offering it? It is also referred to "highly rust resistant". 13.00% Cr wouldn't seem to be enough to be "highly" rust resistant. It aIso is...

Re: Has the Paramilitary 2 ship sailed?

I do want the Cutlery Shoppe wharnie and the BQ Tanto. Doubt I'll get one as I believe these are still popular so they will sell out fast again. Too fast for me to jump on. What I really wish is for these to be released as regular production models. They are not specialty designs or collectors models...

It wasn't addressed solely at you as I wasn't trying to single you out, but I'm glad I could make you look at it an a different way. And that you took my comments in a constructive way. I didn't want to sound strident or critical, though I probably did, sorry. And if anyone gets this thread locked I...

Re: Where does the steel come from?

Sadly everything is politics. Everything. To think otherwise is naive, bordering on ridiculus. It effects almost every aspect of your life or will at some point. "Political" people are so worked up because the future of our nation is being decided and shapped right now. If you think it do...

Re: Where does the steel come from?

And China? I' have very few phobias. None of a race of people. But I do fear their Government. Why? They want to dominate as much of the world as they can. Economically, geograpically, militarily, manufacturing and resources. I won't list all the things. Too much politics already. But it is not some...

Re: Spyderco SS models advice needed

I generally feel the same about the stainless handled Spydies being sturdy, but wonder if that is just a feeling based on their heft. I've bought and seen a few used stainless handled models. And generally if they were even decently used the blades have side to side play. Often a lot. And I don't th...

Re: Pochi for Self-defense?

Joking aside, if you don’t brandish weapons and you keep an element of surprise/ambush any size knife would be lethal. When I was a kid, the first rule of fights I learned was 'the winner is usually the first person who knows the fight is happening.' I got suspended from school shortly after I lear...

Re: Pochi for Self-defense?

I came here for the Pochi for Self Defense thread. Pochis need self defense like the rest of us. Maybe something Endura size or larger would benefit the Pochi. If we are taking a poll on crime, I vote No I'm against it. LOL. Really, very funny. I wonder what the pochi would choose as well. And what...

And what's a bogan, especially a cashed up one? LOL. Bogan = Redneck with an Australian Accent Cashed up = wealthy Haha, I like it. Never heard this before, but I'll stow that away for the future. Yeah I got a kick out of it as well. And intend to fit it in in the future, lol. But I appreciate Aussi...

Re: Pochi for Self-defense?

Bloke, Aussies don't have a lock on apathy, Americans are pretty good at it as well. TomAiello, thanks. I was talking to a very cool Aussie lady on line and she described it just that way! But then muddied it a bit, so nice to know for sure. If only to sound cool when I talk to her. It's hard enough...

Re: Spyderco SS models advice needed

You can also have the handles bead blasted to increase grip. I've had it done to several knives over the years. Auto mechanics sometimes have a bead blast cabinet. If they have the option start with glass bead blasting, it's not as course, but if it works for you you can stop there. If not have it s...

Re: Pochi for Self-defense?

G'day Bloke,I knew Aussies could own guns, and that you need a reason to. But from what I know there are more restrictions then you mentioned, such as caliber and barrel length (for handguns) and on capacity as well as many semi auto rifles being flat out banned. I hope I didn't sound sarcastic, jus...

Re: Have Your Knife Preferences Changed This Year?

True James nothing is fool proof. Especially if fitted improperly or fouled by dirt or debris. Yes the triad lock is difficult to disengage, but I'd take that over a failure anytime! I would definitely chose something else if I needed to open and close the knife a lot during use. I wouldn't chose a ...

Re: Have Your Knife Preferences Changed This Year?

I'm curious a number of people have commented on the back lock being "more secure" or stronger. Is there any proof or testing of this? Is it just the consensus? I remember back when all we had were back locks no one had much faith in them and a lot of us have seen them fail. I know these a...

Re: Pochi for Self-defense?

I’m not so sure about some of Tom’s stats … I googled 180 murders per 1,000,000 in Chicago, 14.5 per 1,000,000 in London, 13 per million in Sydney. I know where I’d feel least safe…. Unless you're one of those 14.5(? was a half a person killed?) or 13. It's never the odds. It's always the stakes.

Re: Which GOLDEN ERA Model Should Be Next?

I agree “Heritage “ series yearly release would really be a great idea along with using SPY27 . In the past we only see sprint runs , why not just dust off an older model run for a year ? SPY27 steel needs more use in more models not just lwt model runs . Great idea ! MG2 There was a really unfortu...

Re: Any fix for lockback blade rock? Caly 3

I think you should send it in. What have you got to lose except s&h? If they asked you to send it in maybe they think they can fix it? I suppose you could ask them what they think they can do before you send it in. If they fix it great, if not you lost nothing but that s&h.
