Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
Called BladeHQ just to confirm they got it and sold out as I had notifications on and never got anything.
I was told they only got 10, bonuses if they will get more and were sold in seconds. This might be an extremely hard knife to find.
I’d be surprised. It seems like they are making a lot ...

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
Thanks. Hard to tell in these vendors that show OOS if they haven’t gotten them yet or already sold out.

Re: Military 2 help
So, two methods to deal with loc-tite, unfortunately may also effect the G10, but brakleen can dissolve the thread lock if you can get it to penetrate. Or, holding the tip of a soldering iron into the hardware can heat and release the thread lock.
But too much of either could damage the G10 or ...

Re: Laser guided edge angle
Yeah I want to go steeper and that was the origin of trying this out to see about where I was.
If I’m thinking about it correctly, it must be the larger part of the blob at the apex. So I am at a stubby 22 or so degrees per side.
This is kind of my natural angle so I’ll need to train for a ...

Re: Laser guided edge angle
Have not seen one of those, pretty neat if you ask me, just have to wonder how accurate that sucker is?
If you can, which I am not sure, not seeing the whole thing.
Measure your knife edge with it one way laid out across it, then flip your knife over a 180 degrees with the handle on the other side ...

Re: Laser guided edge angle
I like freehanding, but because I don't have one of these laser thingies I don't technically know how much convex I am introducing to the edge. However, I don't think convexity is all too bad a thing as long as you can apex and deburr the edge consistently. If your freehanded convex edges don't ...

Laser guided edge angle
I picked up this toy goniometer for fun. Here is Spyderco factory edge:

And mine from freehand bench stones. I am satisfied with the sharpness I get. And I know / expect some edge convex. I wonder what’s reasonable/possible freehand? I feel like BBB has posted some that are near ...

Re: Manix 2 Pivot Tolerance
I bought a bag of thicker bronze washers that I just hone to fit for the blade action. Now while I don't want any blade wiggle from side to side, I do setup all my knifes to drop freely if the tension is off be it by holding the lockbar open or whatever.
Now honing bronze washers are not fun or ...

Manix 2 Pivot Tolerance
I have about 5 copies of Manix 2s - it’s my favorite.
I have noticed on my 2 most recent that I have basically no adjustment in the pivot screws. I can tighten them as tight as I reasonably can, and the blade has a bit of wiggle and drops free.
I usually play with tiny changes and thread lock to ...

Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!
Been debating the Shaman or Bodacious and curious which you would buy at the current pricing at Dack’s.
$176 - Shaman SPY27 Cobalt Blue G10
$156 - Bodacious SV30 Black G10 Black DLC
These seem like very reasonable pricing to me and I’m torn.
Don’t really have a use case, just want to round ...

Re: Please Tell Me About 15V
When looking at Larrin’s page he gives 15v a rating for toughness of 3.5 similar to M390 and higher than Maxamet which receive a rating of 2.
But when looking at actual values

Note sure if this has been posted. Seeing a lot of “kits” on eBay that are clearly fake. One example:

AI art knows Spyderco
Anyone following AI won’t be too surprised, but thought it was interesting what I got from CoPilot when asking for Spyderco in 15v steel. A couple examples below. All had the opening hole dead on. However color doesn’t match 15v:
