Re: Spyderco Q possible prototype???
Have you guys ever looked into 3d printed molds for short runs of injection molded parts? They claim it can handle up to a few thousand pieces per mold. https://formlabs.com/blog/3d-printing-for-injection-molding/ Now such a novel fabrication technique would be very fitting for the Q, which was alr...

Re: Spyderco Q possible prototype???
I just became aware of these skeletonised knives. They're gorgeous !
I hope there'll be re-editions available for purchase in the not-too-distant future.

Re: Tuff-ening the Millie?
The worst event was a winter caribou hunt on Lake Louise. I had two knives with me when I shot my bull: a Master Hunter and a Sebenza. Normally I use a small folder for the gutting process as it’s a nimbler blade but I couldn’t hold the thing even wearing my under gloves because the handle was too ...

Re: Accessory : suggestions for a Spyderco keyring/keychain
I made it on a 3D printer Nice DIY project :cheap-sunglasses So the material is PLA I presume. Did you think about posting the files on Thingiverse ? Well basically, yes. I’m envisioning your first two designs being 1/8” thick steel. And then tapped for a small spoon clip like on the small stainles...

Re: I really hope Spyderco is keeping the liners for the upcoming FRN/LW PM2.
If someone would come up with 3D shaped G10 while retaining non-polished / non-smoothed structure it would be definitely very interesting on more serious use oriented knives. I have not seen such handles/scales yet. By "3D shaped" you mean motifs as on the FRN scales, or rather something ...

Re: I really hope Spyderco is keeping the liners for the upcoming FRN/LW PM2.
I find that the amount of grip on FRN depends strongly on the pressure. If one holds the knife lightly, the fingers are basically ‘gliding’ on the very top surface of the large structures thus giving rather smooth feel, even might feel a bit slippery. Once you grip the handle more firmly, you get a...

Re: Any interest in replacement boxes?
If one is looking for unbranded boxes, it may be possible to find equivalent products for peanuts on Aliexpress.
Quality-wise, it wouldn't make any difference, as the material used on legit Spyderco boxes is already cheap carton.

Re: Spyderco is the Rolex of the knife world
Being an aspiring Rolex owner, this comparison speaks a lot to me. I understand the frustration. Though I'm not sure to which extent this parallel is pertinent - as Rolex is largely engineering the scarcity, and holds its ADs on a tight leash. I don't think Spyderco's commercial practices are nearly...

Re: Accessory : suggestions for a Spyderco keyring/keychain
I dig the idea. I remeber reading once that Sal's inspiration for the clipped knife was a little frog keychain that clipped onto the top of your pocket. It made the keys more accessible instead of digging into the bottom of your pocket. Point being, I would absolutely be into something like this. A...

Re: Accessory : suggestions for a Spyderco keyring/keychain
I think it would be cool to have one. I'd go one step further and make it a tool with the two torx bits that Spyderco uses for their knives. Tighten your pivot anywhere as long as you have you keys. Im thinking it would sell well Playing with the idea above by Albertaboyscott, it would drive the pr...
