Re: BladeHQ Native 5 M4 mint green dropping Dec. 3

I really like the cool looks of the Native, also the no-ramp-design. Function-. and ergowise it can´t match my Chap FRN, that´s why I sold my FRN Native. But this one looks interesting, just for trying M4.... but as Ramonade said, shipping, tariff, taxes included it might be up to twice the price t...

Re: BladeHQ Native 5 M4 mint green dropping Dec. 3

The price difference between strels is not that crazy. Like, m390 is not that expensive compared to s30v. When you see how many blanks can be done in one sheet, it changes the price of the knife but not that drastically. Its all the abrasives and such that are used on these steels that cost a lot mo...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal

If anyone is curious, Work Sharp answered my question about the grit of the ceramic.
They said it's between 1000 and 1200
Pretty low for the grit pattern it leaves but I trust them!

Re: chaparral cqi?

XHP is the only steel that I've managed to stain so far. Maxamet and ZDP-189 stayed pristine. Must be my luck ^^

Another thing to add because it's one of my favorite feature on both the Native 5 and the Chapparal : no vertical blade play in this mid-backlock.

Re: BladeHQ Native 5 M4 mint green dropping Dec. 3

Well, I do love N5s, and this is the only time I would've tried to get an exclusive, even tho i might almost end up paying double.
But, it's the same day as the MT035, and I can't miss that !

edit : and I've ordered a k390 Stretch 2 saturday night... :face-clouds

Re: Byrd knife in a Spyderco box

I own the Byrd Hawkbill and I know Spyderco found out a chinese factory that can heat treat to their standard. Serrations + 8cr13mov works pretty well on my particular knife ! I've cut a lot of stuff and it's still sharp. I already woul'dve sharpened or at least touched up my PE LC200N N5 by now ^^

I love sharpening so I try to not sharpen too much. I do them one by one, I usually use one knife until it needs sharpening, sharpen it and then move to another carry.

If i waited for em to be dull, I'd sharpen them in like 20 years considering how much Maxamet k390 and other steels i own :rofl

When a knife dealer says in a video "heavier use", they mean using it to open beers and unscrew some philips . Usually means the knife won't perform as a knife :rofl Well, even for those tasks thinner bladestock (spines) might actually be better... :smirk If its a PH1, I cant use my quart...

Re: New to K390. Initial impressions=Impressed. blood warning.

I have the Ladybug in my 5th pocket everyday. Have been something like a month or two. It is a steel i really really like ! It hasn't even started to patina even though it's always on me and I do not particularly take care of it. As said before, the fine edge (only one I use, i usually touch up as s...

Interesting, it needs a bit of love and care upon arrival, but a byrd can run very smooth and secure !

I have my account, I've entered billing and shipping adress and made sure they both are the same. Now, is it possible to enter my payment infos early ? I'll try to store it on the browser like advised, but I'm not really familiar with this !

Re: Sharpening ZDP-189

I feel the difficulty sharpening zdp 189 is way overblown, I'd say it's more about technique and stones than it is about a particular feature of the steel. Perhaps the steel is hard enough that the poor practices that work for 420 HC are not as effective for a steel like ZDP 189. There can also be ...

Had fun and did cut out like 20 big cardboard boxes into pieces to fit them to the yellow bags we use here. The Endura sliced it up perfectly even tho it's not that thin !

Re: Favorite small spyderco

For a long time it was the Chapparal.
But now that I own the Ladybug (the one in k390), i'd say this one !
The cutting edge allows for a lot of stuff, not everything but a lot.

And for those who might think it's too small to use : if I can flick it, you shoud be able to use it :face-clouds

I hesitate between these bought : - First Manix 2 in G10 (have the one in FRCP and CTS-BD1N) for 142€ - Stretch 2 k390 for 140€ - Endela FFG SE VH-10 for 102€ edit : choice made, thanks to the delica performance coming (idk how, but I have faith) and the fact that I wanted the Manix 2 G10 only to be...

Re: chaparral cqi?

Let me use this topic while it's hot: Titanium, CF/G10 or FRN? Titanium currently at 380 € (430 $) and FRN at 130 € (147 $) on Coutellerie Tourangelle. Cannot find CF/G10 in Europe, and to get it on Christmas closing from the US would be a nightmare. Is titanium worth 3 times the price of FRN? Not ...
