Re: Stretch XL Salt Observations
I wonder if other steels will follow H2 in hollow grind. To me, the best use of this knife is hunting, and I can't decide whether I'd rather have H2 for ease of touchup in the field, or MagnaCut so it wouldn't need touching up as often. Or Vanax, which Spyderco doesn't use. It doesn't really matter...

Re: Gotta rethink my hunting/gutting knife…S110V FAIL!
https://youtu.be/a2bo23n16tI Check out this video for skinning and quartering a deer in 10 minutes. He's using a Spyderco Moran by the way. I'm not saying this is the absolute best way, but it sure is fast. I do a variation of this on my southern whitetails, but take a little extra time and save the...

Re: Boning Knife Recommendation?
Which Dexters are you using? Sani-safe or wood handled carbon steel? Sani-safe. Mine seem to dull very quickly. I would guess the carbon steel is better? I've heard mixed opinions as to whether the carbon or stainless Dexsteel knives hold an edge better. I have a Dexsteel, it doesn't get used for t...

Re: Boning Knife Recommendation?
If you want something similar to a American boning knife with Japanese performance, I have heard of people using a petty to replace their boning knives. This is a thin stainless option that is generally regarded as being tough for how thin it is, but bear in mind that Japanese knives aren't as toug...

Re: Boning Knife Recommendation?
Was initially thinking under $100, but like so many things go, I may have to refine that up to around $175.

Re: Boning Knife Recommendation?
I use Cold Steels commercial series boning knives myself, but they probably won't hold an edge any longer than yours. you can get them in super blue around $120-150 https://www.chefknivestogo.com/koaosuho15.html hap40 for a bit more - https://www.chefknivestogo.com/kohaho151.html You can get them $...

Boning Knife Recommendation?
Hello all, I'm looking for a good boning knife and would prefer something Japanese made that won't break the bank. I've been getting by with Dexter and similar curved boning knives for awhile now for processing whitetail deer and like their shape, but mine never hold an edge very long and I feel lik...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up
OK JD, while out deer hunting I took the opportunity to take pics of my hunting knife. Fharing45, have you skinned some deer with it? I always thought the blade shape would be great for it, but wondering how the angle of the handle works out. Best Regards, Dave Yes I used it last year on 2 deer.I w...

Re: Spyderco Stretch Original
Excellent thread, about time for some pics.
The top two are of course Stretch 1's. For comparison is a Stretch 2 at bottom and it's easy to see the choil and handle differences. Hope the photo helps those interested. Take care, Dave

Re: Native 5 salt - magnacut or lc200n - help me pick
I own two Natives and you're lookin at them. Sold my others. The LC200N does require sharpening more often, easily done with brown Sharpmaker rods. I haven't sharpened the Magnacut yet, it's holding the factory edge well and it came extremely sharp. In fairness I haven't used it that much. I like th...
