Re: Best Spyderco Knife for Everyday Carry?
Native 5 Salt in either LC200N or Magnacut will be easy to carry and fuss free.
Stretch 2 straight spine in K390 for a "one and done" knife, but will require a bit more care.
Warstein's picks above are great if you're ready to dip your toes in the SE water.
FYI...great prices on discontinued ...

Re: My new dedicated workbench knife
I have a Gayle Bradley in my rolling toolbox, plus an old Manix 2 154CM and a 4V Mule with my own micarta scales.
#bdblue , I bet that 4V Mule is a tough hombre and well suited for tool box or workbench duty!! I saw some of your Mule handle work on the Mule forum and they really look good ...

first good use I've seen for the lanyard hole!
What's not to like about these anyway, you keep that kind of talk up they will quit drilling and/or tubing our knifes for them.

My new dedicated workbench knife
Rockjumper SE...I'm guessing it will be well suited for this role and the price was right. Fits my hand better than Endura, feels similar to Stretch without the choil plus a wee bit more room if wearing gloves.

Re: The near perfect folding hunter
Pictured is my dad's old Case folder, a Boatright "Hunter" fixed blade in Nitro-V, a Spydiechef and a Stretch "1" in VG-10. Also included is a stiff brush that I use with Dawn soap and hot water to clean up blades/handles afterwards. Even FRN will clean up pretty good with a little extra effort.

Re: Ready for an Endura
I'll throw a little extra into the mix. I have an Endura in ZDP-189. It's great and although discontinued, it's still probably findable with a little searching. Also, IMO you shouldn't eliminate VG-10 from your consideration. It's still the flagship steel for this model, has excellent corrosion ...

As I recall the ZDP blades lost teeth with heavy use so be careful
@navin johnson , Thanks for the heads up, will try to avoid hard use with it. I did some reading on the subject, so I stand corrected for assuming it would hold up well. For now I'm just enjoying it, it's cuts so much ...

My High Performance Endura SE
A recent buy on the secondary market. Apparently started life as a Sabre Ground Endura 4 SE in ZDP-189. Had a regrind at some point but seller didn't know by who.
Man, it's a slicey beast and it should hold up well in this steel. Has anyone else experienced a regrind on a SE?

Spyderco on CNN today
This caught my eye on CNN this morning and was neat to see. At first glance I thought it was an Atlantic Salt, but it appears to be an Assist Salt. It's at the very end of the video. Happy 4th to you all.

Re: Stretch XL Salt Observations
I wonder if other steels will follow H2 in hollow grind.
To me, the best use of this knife is hunting, and I can't decide whether I'd rather have H2 for ease of touchup in the field, or MagnaCut so it wouldn't need touching up as often. Or Vanax, which Spyderco doesn't use. It doesn't really ...

Check out this video for skinning and quartering a deer in 10 minutes. He's using a Spyderco Moran by the way. I'm not saying this is the absolute best way, but it sure is fast. I do a variation of this on my southern whitetails, but take a little extra time and save ...
