Re: Sharpening Magnacut
I haven't had the opportunity to sharpen my Magnacut Mule yet but plan to use my DMT diamond stones. I've got some double sided 6" long stones that fit perfectly in my Edge Pro. Any recommendations for final grit and degrees per side? I often use up to 600 grit for my kitchen knives but have a ...

Re: POLL: Should Mule Team purchases be limited to one???
I love the idea of a regular production Mule in CPM SPY27. I wonder if it will be sold just the like the limited run Mules. The SPY 27 Mule was $50 and if it's in that range, I'd imagine that it would be a great way for a user to get a knife for a reasonable price but with a better-tier, all-around ...

Re: Ultem® Mule
Cool use of a very cool plastic! It's my favorite material for guitar picks. It doesn't wear like nearly all other materials I've tried (nylon, celluloid, delrin) and has a hardness that allows for thinner picks without the flex. I'd bet it would take some checkering or texture really nicely, but I ...

Re: Ho hum... non-Magnacut Mule
Beautiful work! I like how the scale tapers down at the ricasso! Must be a comfortable knife to use.
After a bit of googling, I see that Tabebuia is related to Ipe which is super hard, weather impervious and oughta last as long as the steel! Really great choice for handle scales.

Re: Mule team - preorder
I like the idea of a pre-order but if the lead times are years down the line, it may not work as intended. I wonder if registering here, expressing specific interest in a given steel, giving a non-refundable deposit and then being willing to wait would be an option. I've thought about this and read ...

Re: MT35P - CPM MagnaCut Mule Team - Release Date
I was busy when the Mule dropped and figured that I'd missed it. When I got back to my computer I thought I'd give it a try. It worked and I have one coming. I feel very lucky. Sorry for those who experienced so much frustration. I believe that a bunch of folks on the forum aren't huge fans of the M...

Re: When will the new mule teams be released?
Thanks Sal. For the update, not scrapping or shelving the Mule Team and for offering more blanks for those who want them. It's a great feeling when a company responds to feedback. I'm hopeful that the upcoming Mule Team selections give you insight into how these steels perform and where to go next w...

Re: Who got a Z-Max?
That Mule has been ridden hard and put away wet!
Speaking of wet, is that rust/pitting near the spyderhole or is it dirt? I like the patina on the rest of the blade, but wonder if I should take more careful measures with mine.

Re: Mule Team Subscription maybe?
What about putting down a deposit ahead of time? If you were in, maybe you could order yours the day before it was open to the rest of the public.
Maybe it would be a pain and extra work to deal with. Just putting it out there.

I know that we can order replacement hardware from Halpern, but does anyone have another source for the same screws and connector so I can make a few for myself?

Re: Liners - Halpern scales
The hardware oughta have enough threads to add thin liners, but I wonder how the knife might fit into the Spyderco Boltaron sheath or a tight-fitting kydex sheath with the added thickness. Just something to keep in mind. Years ago I removed the coating on an Ontario RAT-3 knife and it rattled in the...

Re: Who got a Z-Max?
I personally like the Mule design, even for steels that aren't the pinnacle of edge holding. I've been getting a good deal of use out of my CTS-XHP Mule and I like it for the high flat grind and for the acute point. With contoured scales, it locks into my hand. I spent a number of years fumbling aro...

Re: MT29P - Mule Team Featuring Z-Max PM Release Info!
I'd imagine that numbering the blade blanks would add to the cost and certain numbers would be sold as extra rare for their novelty. (001, 007, 69, 420...)

Re: Who got a Z-Max?
I followed the suggestion to put another item in my cart and add the Z-Max. I went through the process with a sheath, but when I submitted it (like hijinxtx) I got the message about the sheath being out of stock. The internet gods must've been smiling on me because I was able to get a Z-Max Mule eve...
