Re: Gayle Bradley 2 CQI?
The detent on mine is perfect. The only issue I have is a bit of lock stick which will hopefully work its way out. Lock stick on a GB2 isn’t great because it kind of piles on the difficulty of disengaging the lock. The GB2 is a bit like the chaparral in the sense that it’s a phenomenal work/carry kn...

Re: 52100 Native Chief?
Asking as one who never experienced 52100, why is it your preferred steel next to steels like Magnacut and Cruwear? Cruwear and magnacut top 52100 for me, as do k390, 4v and 15v. But I really like bearing steels like 52100 for some reason…each one I’ve encountered has been great to sharpen/maintain...

Re: 52100 Native Chief?
I would absolutely love a 52100 chief. The 52100 millie is one of my all time favorites and that combo, 52100 with grippy carbon fiber, would be amazing

Re: Anyone Else Up For a Resilience in CPM-M4?
That would be amazing…the resilience is my favorite model among the Chinese liner locks and M4 is one of my favorite tool steels. The resilience is highly under-appreciated (probably because of its size). It has this bullet proof, “beat me up” kind of attitude…and that click when you open it, holy m...

Re: Chief vs Stretch XL for fishing knife?
Either would be great. It’s all about how much tip you want, really…
The native chief has a super-pronounced tip…good for piercing if you do a lot of that as part of bait prep. The salt stretch kind of speaks for itself. It’s one of the greatest 4” knives ever conceived but in salt form.

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
Can’t wait for the Rex 121 Sage. Dreading the day a cruwear Sage 5 lw is released…which will render every other 3” in my collection inferior in a definitive way Has there been any indication on a release date? Rex 121, as Sal said… and unless I’ve missed something major in the last week or two, the...

Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll
I’m tip up for everything but the Millie family. I’ve tried tip down for the endura, stretch and a few others but it just never felt right. So nearly everything is tip up. But then for PM2s and my military models, tip up doesn’t feel right. I think it’s because I got used to tip down with the cruwea...

A chappy in k390 or cruwear would be an absolute laser beam.
That’s not to say that the xhp variants aren’t. I love mine…but man oh man. That blade stock with a steel that comes up effortlessly aggressive and hangs onto its front end sharpness. That would be unreal.

Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?
There’s probably a generational component to consider when answering this question The models that are the most widespread are probably the Delica, PM2 and Tenacious. So from there it depends on whom you ask. Anyone who’s either younger or more into flicky locks…THE Spyderco to them will probably be...

LC200N is a big part of why I like the Caribbean so much…it does reallt well in wet environments (obviously) and it’s easy to maintain.RugerNurse wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 5:34 amI ordered a UK Penknife for my small fishing adventures. The LC200N version. Small and lightweight should be great

Re: Caribbean: it’s that time of year again…
Resurrecting this thread again instead of starting a new one. It’s that time of year again and the longer I have the Caribbean as my main fishing knife, the more I start to wonder if there’s any better general purpose, on the water, fishing/boating knife on the market. In the last year mine has cut ...

Re: K390 vs S110V - Some Observations
I’ve used and sharpened both of these pretty extensively K390 is a clear winner in the sharpening department. Things like reprofiling take a minute but after that, it’s all good. I’ve never had a major issue getting a screaming sharp edge S110V is similarly difficult to reprofile…but it also takes a...

Re: Weird streaks/scratch in DLC?
I recognize this… This is almost certainly from abrasive particles working their way onto a jig or angle guide. This happened to me early on when I was using an angle guide to examine the factory bevel on a DLC shaman. It bothered me so I did two things…stopped using an angle guide with diamond ston...

Same as basically every model I have in such a scheme…crucarta…it just always feels “right”.
I do love the k390 variant, though…that’s the tool steel variant to go for if you don’t wanna wait around for a year until another cruwear individual pops up on the flea for double the original price…

Re: S110v to delicate more of a safe queen???
We can call putting lateral forces on the apex "user error", but there's some cutting tasks that are very hard to complete without such motions Definitely…and I’ve had one or two incidents over the years with some of my crazier, more brittle steels. But hey, that’s what I signed up for 🤷♂️

Re: Sage 5 in REX 121 + burnt orange
Would Spyderco provide any assistance to me if it breaks or gets damaged when I use it within the realms of where I would an expect knife with a more conventional steel to perform perfectly fine? TBH, I would keep it as more of a collector piece if that were a concern. I want Spyderco to be releasi...
