Re: poll: preference of production or exclusives/sprints?

I like both for different reasons. Production is great for regular carry…sprints and exclusives are cool to collect, pick up, look at and carry when you’re in the mood. I don’t do the whole safe queen thing but I understand wanting to keep certain knives looking nice. A nice compromise for me is the...

What was on the menu?
65lbs of venison 👍

There’s a great butcher right down the street from my cabin who’ll turn your field dressed buck into anything you want on the cheap.

Re: sage 5 compression or little native compression

I have and love both but if you own neither, the Sage 5 lw is where to start. It might seem a bit middle of the road and “boring” but it’s a PHENOMENAL “middle of the road”. Mine and many others’ are finished almost perfectly, they’re highly ergonomic and offer killer cutting performance for their b...

Re: endela scales

Suingab makes micarta scales for the Endela, though I haven't sampled his work yet. His website is https://g10.lt/ I have and it’s exceptional. Just as nice as it looks and (at least with my police 4), he included a backspacer. I have several sets of his scales, all are 100% as good as OEM fit and ...

Re: Poll... Crucarta ...Poll

I love both…although K390 is really starting to nip at Cruwear’s heels for me with its ease of sharpening, insane aggression, strop-friendly nature and edge stability. It doesn’t have the same stain resistance but eh. That’s about 5th on my personal list of priorities. What Cruwear truly has over k3...

Re: Cat vs. Sage 5 LW

…the Sage is off the charts for it's compression action. It will get a fair amount of carry now! You aren’t kidding about that. My sage 5 lw is unbelievable in the “lock action” department…it’s easily the best I own as far as that goes. The other thing that’s really nice about it is the detent. Its...

Re: K390 DLC kitchen knives?

I know ZDP-189 can get an amazing mirror polish with its fine grain microstructure but not sure about K390. Oh, it can…I’ve stepped a couple of my k390 edges down to .1 micron and two things stand out at that level. K390 is perfectly happy there and will, indeed, hold its front end sharpness at suc...

Re: Endela vs Endura

I consider the Endela to be more of a stout, medium duty folder…with the endura being a long slicer. As far as handles go, they’re about on par with eachother for me at least. The one thing my main carry endura has an advantage with is its micarta/deep carry clip. For certain knives (endura and sham...

Re: "Just In Case" knives?

My “just in case” knives are the knives I carry into Boston (which has an obscene 2.5” limit). Lil Native, Dragonfly and my civivi odiums. Luckily, they’re all top notch so I’m not totally unequipped I hope the smaller P'kal makes it into production. It would be ideal for places like that with a 2....

Personally, I'll take VG-10 over ZDP-189 any day.
I’m actually with you on this one. I like steels with high level edge retention but I also like steels that are easy to maintain. VG-10 is really, really easy to maintain and responsive to stropping/sharpening.

Re: The joy of a near perfect specimen

Edit: My k390 Endela might have the single best factory edge I’ve seen on any production knife. I actually bought it second hand and had to asked the guy if he tuned up the edge; he didn’t and even admitted to some light cutting. Crazy how even those bevels are, someone obviously cared about the qu...

Re: The joy of a near perfect specimen

Had the same experience with my new Manix 2 M390. Actually looked it over with a magnifying glass when I received. Perfect in every way, like it was constructed by the gods. Action is smooth as glass, fit and finish is impeccable. Mine is similar…and I’ve actually seen a couple other guys with real...
