Re: Tip Up vs Tip Down Poll

I’m tip up for everything but the Millie family. I’ve tried tip down for the endura, stretch and a few others but it just never felt right. So nearly everything is tip up. But then for PM2s and my military models, tip up doesn’t feel right. I think it’s because I got used to tip down with the cruwea...

Re: Chaparral

A chappy in k390 or cruwear would be an absolute laser beam.

That’s not to say that the xhp variants aren’t. I love mine…but man oh man. That blade stock with a steel that comes up effortlessly aggressive and hangs onto its front end sharpness. That would be unreal.

Re: Is there a quintessential Spyderco?

There’s probably a generational component to consider when answering this question The models that are the most widespread are probably the Delica, PM2 and Tenacious. So from there it depends on whom you ask. Anyone who’s either younger or more into flicky locks…THE Spyderco to them will probably be...

I ordered a UK Penknife for my small fishing adventures. The LC200N version. Small and lightweight should be great
LC200N is a big part of why I like the Caribbean so much…it does reallt well in wet environments (obviously) and it’s easy to maintain.

Re: Caribbean: it’s that time of year again…

Resurrecting this thread again instead of starting a new one. It’s that time of year again and the longer I have the Caribbean as my main fishing knife, the more I start to wonder if there’s any better general purpose, on the water, fishing/boating knife on the market. In the last year mine has cut ...

Re: K390 vs S110V - Some Observations

I’ve used and sharpened both of these pretty extensively K390 is a clear winner in the sharpening department. Things like reprofiling take a minute but after that, it’s all good. I’ve never had a major issue getting a screaming sharp edge S110V is similarly difficult to reprofile…but it also takes a...

Re: Weird streaks/scratch in DLC?

I recognize this… This is almost certainly from abrasive particles working their way onto a jig or angle guide. This happened to me early on when I was using an angle guide to examine the factory bevel on a DLC shaman. It bothered me so I did two things…stopped using an angle guide with diamond ston...

Re: What is your favorite Delica variant?

Same as basically every model I have in such a scheme…crucarta…it just always feels “right”.

I do love the k390 variant, though…that’s the tool steel variant to go for if you don’t wanna wait around for a year until another cruwear individual pops up on the flea for double the original price…

So they're building insurance into the price...which benefits careless people, and penalizes the prudent, it seems to me. "Safety-nettism."

Re: S110v to delicate more of a safe queen???

We can call putting lateral forces on the apex "user error", but there's some cutting tasks that are very hard to complete without such motions Definitely…and I’ve had one or two incidents over the years with some of my crazier, more brittle steels. But hey, that’s what I signed up for 🤷‍♂️

Re: Sage 5 in REX 121 + burnt orange

Would Spyderco provide any assistance to me if it breaks or gets damaged when I use it within the realms of where I would an expect knife with a more conventional steel to perform perfectly fine? TBH, I would keep it as more of a collector piece if that were a concern. I want Spyderco to be releasi...

Re: S110v to delicate more of a safe queen???

S110V is actually a really practical steel for certain use cases (it’s my personal favorite high vanadium stainless). Its best use is as a highly, highly stainless EDC slicer. It’ll definitely get a little brittle on you if you encounter hard objects…that’s more the realm of tool steels. But if you’...

Re: Stretch 2 v Stretch 2 LW

When the stretch 2xl finally comes out in k390... i may have to go this route too. i've been wanting to try k390 and figured the leafjumper would be the one, but then i didn't have to adhere to smaller blade restrictions like i thought i would, so a 4" blade sounds really great. i also like th...

When the stretch 2xl finally comes out in k390, the rest of my 4” stable is gonna be on vacation for a bit…

The stretch bd the 2xl are very similar as far as carry…the 2xl might even be a little lighter actually. Just has a bit more blade

Mine comes in tomorrow 🕺 This is gonna be my first Rex 45. I’m excited about that much since I’ve been watching people crow about Rex 45 for years on end. Plus, the price was just really, really good. Sometimes I look back at what I paid for something like this after the secondary market goes nuts a...

I really like my tenacious but I haven’t had the motivation to get a new one…even m4, one of my favorite steels on planet earth…it just wasn’t quiiiiite enough to bump it up the priority list. This is… I think D2 gets a bad rap because it was sort of ran through by budget knife manufacturers a few y...

Shaman

Pocket folder with fixed blade feel. Doesn’t get much more full-handled than that…especially if you’re good with the PM2’s size
