The CruWear-micarta Bodacious that will likely show up at some point is pretty close. If I could Salt-ify the liners and hardware, and switch to LC200N, I'd store backups in separate locations so I'd never run out.
As is, I'd attempt a blade swap to S30V. If that doesn't fit, CruWear will serve me ...

Re: Why doesn't Spyderco help us avoid fakes?
Authorized distribution is how Spyderco ensures we get authentic products. Yes, distributors and retailers mark up the price. Perhaps Spyderco has done the math and it would've cost more to handle retail in-house.

Re: China
Byrd and Chinese Spyderco knives serve a market segment. I like that the affordable segment can access Spyderco's designs and ethos.
I think the affordable segment is poorly represented on this forum. We're enthusiasts. We dip into the affordable segment for fun, but we don't really live in that ...

Re: China
I see Spyderco as having a clear brand identity who collaborates with designers and makers around the world. Chinese manufacture fits into Spyderco's strategy. Spyderco does not contort themselves around Chinese manufacturing.

Re: Preferred cutting board material and qualities?
I use Epicurean cutting boards; I heard they're made out of Richlite. I just thought it was amusing cutting against a handle material. They seem to be gentle on the knives, and are dishwasher safe. Gouges are evident. One could resurface it with sandpaper... for when I run out of chores to do.

I fell asleep before the auction ending for an RIL Military. I'd never carry it over the standard G-10 due to the weight, but I wanted one.

Did you not want to bring the Sage 5 Salt because it was too nice or you were worried it'd rust?

Re: Advice for a non knife guy...
MDR your original advices sound good. In my experience, modern knives rarely need pivots oiled, but maybe that's just me.
Perhaps you could move the clip to where he likes, or warn him against stripping the clip screws.

Re: Crucible Industries declares Chapter 11 bankruptcy
My understanding is Crucible had been making powdered steel in-house till now. Carpenter has been outsourcing powdered steel to Europe.Deadboxhero wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:41 am...
Erasteel already has three facilities that make powder in Sodorfors, Sweden.
Erasteel also already makes powder for Carpenter.

I have an uncoated one (satin blade and jade G-10), though I find the spring tension OK. Is the spring on yours making it difficult to open or close?

I'm sure these configurations are coming, though I don't think Spyderco has announced them yet. Check Buddafucco's excellent list to stay updated:

Re: KOTY24 - Your knive of the year 2024?
My favorite release this year is the Bodacious. I prefer designs without finger choil or thumb ramp. The Bodacious has a narrower handle (spine-to-edge direction) than the Caribbean and fits my hand better.

Re: US Steel deal, I don't really understand what the desired outcome is for the union. They say US Steel should remain American owned. OK but US Steel apparently can't thrive on its own. Re: Potential Tariffs & Golden, CO.
Hello, I apologize if this is something y'all know already. I recall the last time this well-known American politician got into a trade war with China, it wasn't the same tariff % across all products. Different products have different rates. Depending on how Customs classify things, you could have ...
