Re: New Knife Steel Ratings by Knife Steel Nerds
I am - again - surprised how relatively "bad" REX45/HAP 40 fares. Especially how really not spectacular its toughness actually is. Of course I don't doubt the results at all (!), but this is different to what - also experienced - knife users always tend to say and also different to my own...

As the one who started this thread I may say: Better to let it rest in peace! Has become a great example for running in circles and beating a dead horse a long time ago already... I got nothing against your opinion or views. Nor am I going to create an issue out of your post. I just stated my reaso...

Re: Which knife later grew on you?
I would have to say until the last 2 years Spyderco knives in general did not appeal to me. Mostly due to that trademark Spydie hole. Main reason being fear of easily broken blades due to a cutout in the blade. Well after actually my first Spyderco Endura and looking past the hole concept. And actua...

Re: Why are so many people concerned with perfect blade centering?
You pay to have your kitchen floor tiled and this is what you get. It doesn't effect performance one bit and it's purely cosmetic. Are you ok with this or would you complain? https://i.pinimg.com/originals/81/b2/50/81b250079b19861c28f7d1050242e7b6.jpg OMG If I had done that tile job for my mother. ...

Re: Why are so many people concerned with perfect blade centering?
I can easily tell you why I expect not perfect. But at least good blade centering. I own a brand new S30V Native Chief that every time I use it for trimming a soft pine branch or cutting down one box. The blade goes from centered to risking shaving against the linerless G10 scales. I paid over $168 ...

Re: An Endura/Byrd style Tanto tip release?
IMHO tantos often perform less than the other blade shapes Spyderco might use. Ok the tip is more "durable/tough", but I never broke any tip on my knives (even being somewhat stupid with them sometimes). I'm more about cutting performance, and then we see hollow grinds on tantos for cutti...

Re: An Endura/Byrd style Tanto tip release?
Seems like the blade shape of the Delica and Endura would work really well with tanto shapes since they already have a shallow belly anyway and we know the handles can accommodate a wharnie blade shape too. Seems like money in the bank. Actually I'm thinking about that backwards, a tanto moved the ...

IDK when the S45 version will come around. But for $199 Smokey Mountain Knife Works has this beautiful PM2 in CPM M4 steel.

An Endura/Byrd style Tanto tip release?
Today I was looking at the PM2 Tanto which is usually over $270. I gotta admit that design on the PM2 is nice and the Tanto tip is a lot more stronger than other designs. But the Tanto Tip seems limited to maybe 2 different knives and sprint runs. What I would like to see for us who cannot afford or...

Re: Backpacking knife ?
I neither dismissed nor mocked a "capable folder". I have on several week long backpack trips carried a single edged razor blade as my "knife" and found it entirely capable for every cutting task that presented itself. It is often worth breaking out of entrenched habits of think...
