Re: Steel Poll - What new steel would you like to try/test on a Spyderco Mule Team knife

Thanks for the graphic. What does it mean when one steel has several datapoints of different colors? Pete tests several different sharpening systems. On the upper right corner, there is a key which tells which is which: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1b_rNfdJnL9oyn-JoL9yUHhUmDLAP1hJ1dN_0q5G...

The high rockwell steels are well represented, how about more super tough steels!
S7?
3v?
L6?
5160?
Z tough?
My thoughts exactly fireman. Toughness is too often overlooked.

Re: Steel Poll - What new steel would you like to try/test on a Spyderco Mule Team knife

I have no idea what to pick since I am not a metallurgist or knowledgeable of the steels on the choice list. I would pretty much pick what Larrin would pick. "What Would Larrin Pick?" A good bumper sticker or tee-shirt. My impression (after reading his book and his blog) is that Larrin (1) matches ...

Re: Self loosening pivots

I owned about 60 to 70 folders in my life and currently own 10 to 12 folders from Spyderco and other manufacturers. In general about 3 out of 5 of my folders started developing loose pivots. I simply cleaned the screw with a Q tip soaked in alcohol on one side. used the other dry side of the Q tip t...

Re: Ali Express / Alibaba.com

When people buy from Aliex/Alibaba or even fake vendors who run a brick and mortar store. 90% of the time. They know good and well their stuff is mostly fake / clone. And the majority of their business is from the masses who are not too concerned about fake vs real. Right vs wrong. The masses just w...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???

What "other" knife that is in my pocket is the Fallkniven LTC. Orange color although it appears more gold in my opinion. 3G laminated steel. And very friendly in appearance for stricter areas. I actually like this knife. The line that you see is formed from being a laminated steel. Extremely sharp e...

Nice profile on the blade. This man's work is amazing. And he makes many different things. Shipping is a bit slow but not too bad. You can look him up on Facebook or Etsy under Pagafanshop. And he will do custom orders. $103 for this is an absolute bargain. His skill with edges and profiling is ama...

Re: What would you like to see next from Byrd?

I would love to see S35VN or BD1N in backlocks, and better stainless liners on G10 models (current do rust quite a lot). Hoping Sal and Eric manage to do this with chinese factories. I gotta say that is quite positive thinking and ambition. And there is nothing wrong with that. But would those chan...

Re: What watch you're wearing?

Surprised by how comfortable this is. Bulky, sure, but light weight. https://files.catbox.moe/ih6znk.jpg let us know what you think. i always wanted a suunto, but have always gone a different way for some reason. I like the read out display on that watch. Looks easy to read for older eyes.

Re: What watch you're wearing?

Another feature of the Swatch I like Cycletroll is the ease of removing battery. You don't have to remove the entire back case. Just take a penny, flat head screw driver, or anything with a flat head and twist counter clockwise to remove the small cap on back of the case. Very simple, DIY, and easy...

Re: Share your mishaps

I’ve accidentally cut myself with all kinds of knives. Including several of my Spydercos. However, my worst accident was with a Cold Steel Code 4. No, I did not take a photo of it . This was in 2015. It was user error on my part. I stupidly tried one-hand closing the knife, which is a Triad Lock. T...

Re: Let's try this again. My first custom made blacksmith knife

Wow that's pretty cool! Thank you Meat. I got this for $103 made in Czech. My own sheath from India I had laying around. With the makers sheath $143. And his sheath is way nicer than mine. I dyed my sheath black to match the handles. European Spring steel. Normally Rockwell is 52 -54 in this type o...

I’m partial to the Seax due to some ancestry with the Anglo Saxons.
