Re: Why are some tool steels laminated and others not?

Interested. So it seems like there’s 1/ really only an option to do this for Japanese steels cost effectively and 2/ it limits the heat treat. So laminated steels seem more like a different steel than just a coated variant of their laminated counterparts: they’re more stainless and heat treated diff...

Why are some tool steels laminated and others not?

Just curious. You see super blue and hap40 laminated with sus410. Steels like k390 and m4 aren’t. Is this an aesthetic choice? Or is there a reason some steels must be laminated and others not?

Re: What is the largest/longest Spyderco with a SE

Hey Y'all, I've been poking in the Spyderco catalog looking for the largest/longest Spyderco with a 4" SE. The one I was hoping for was a Military SE but I can't seem to find one. I know a Military SE was made in the past because David has a photo of it in his SE thread. The Endura is close to...

Hi Sethwm,

I think that we're still sorting the models. I'm pretty sure it will be available in the future by itself.

Re: Over sharpening?

Hi Sethwm, We don't have anything to convert the old 20 DPS Sharpmakers. You'll need to purchase a new 204. I designed the fixture to convert the Goldenstone and Webfoot to 15 DPS. You can probably order it by itself from the SFO. I don't know if they're available yet. I travel with a Golden stone ...

Re: Over sharpening?

Hi Drubieg, I guess it depends on how sharp you like to keep you knife. I like to keep my EDC sharp enough to shave hair. If I use it, I check it at the end of the day. If it isn't sharp enough for me, a few strokes on the Sharpmaker fine stones restores the very sharp edge without removing much st...

Re: High Performance Delica Excitement

I’m seeing this as a short sighted win win for me. If it does well there will be more. If it doesn’t that means I get one easily without fighting the website. Obviously I hope it does well because long term more is better.

Re: why so few Stretch 2 color variations?

I’ll say it again here. If every model had their base color be white, we could all dye to our own preference. I think white is the best option for base models. Disagree? Then dye your knife that color you want.

Re: ivory FRN would be fun

So, I got three of those GPKnives N5's. I got the last on Friday and picked up some Rit dye. I've read the instructions and just wonder, they say to heat the water to 200 degrees. Does this pose any threat to the FRN? Hoping to dye this one tonight and any tips would be appreciated. No threat at al...

fixture/shim to make golden stone 30/15 instead of 40/20?

Hey folks, does anyone have a 3d print model for something to make the golden stone be able to do 15 dps rather than 20? I don't think spyderco sells such a thing.

Re: ivory FRN would be fun

This has come up before, both white-handled knives and white replacement scales. Sal was part of the conversation. Seems like Spyderco would be more open to selling white-handled knives than to selling replacement scales. I get the impression that a number of forumites are reluctant to try RIT dyin...

ivory FRN would be fun

I’d love to be able to buy replacement scales for my FRN knives: dfly, delica, endela, etc.

If spyderco sold _only_ ivory (or bright white) scales, we could rit dye them any color we wanted. Would open up a whole new part to the hobby: changing the color on our knives.

Is this possible?

I 5th-pocket carry the blacked out PE MB Wharny whenever my primary is a SE. Same for the SE MB Wharnie when my primary is a PE. I dream of another Jester release one day so that I can finally pick one up.

Ok since we're showing family photos here: https://i.imgur.com/TOmoTY1.jpg That's two franken salts (swapped TiCN blades with yellow handles), an LC200N salt, cruwear, m390 with dyed scales, 20cv, k390, and m4. Probably gonna end up selling the m4 but at one point or another, each of these has had s...
