Sanding/Chamfering G10 scales - Tips, tricks, and results?

I got my first PM2 and can't stand the unchamfered scales compared to the beautifully contoured PM3LW or Ayoob, so I'd like to sand an edge break on them - -Can someone post a pic of their hand-edge-softened scales? -What grit progression have people used successfully? -I heard use a popsicle stick ...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

This has been my EDC since its release and I love it. CruWear is slightly less stainless than I'd prefer for EDC, but Ill life with it as the steel is great overall. Compared to a Manix, the Ayoob feels like 1/2 the knife in your pocket which I appreciate. This knife made me fall in love with back l...

I’ll play. https://i.imgur.com/w72DieH.jpg Like Hans, the Spydie(s) rotate, and the rest usually stay the same. Very nice! Looks a little similar to what I was carrying today Who made your green scales? I want a REC-esque colorway but cant stomach the price for a legit REC. Maybe a DLC+OD Green wil...

Re: Why are some tool steels laminated and others not?

I am also interested in the answer. I am really enjoying CruWear, but for constant EDC it gets rust spots even though I silicone treat it and pay close attention in terms of water, sweat, caustics, and FM (food/adhesive/etc) remaining on the blade for any period of time. assuming its possible, any n...

Also look at Loksak brand OpSak bags (google "opsak bags"). They are like ziplock bags on steroids - waterproof, smell proof, etc. They work pretty well too and are resealable

Re: Unnecessary (yet completely necessary) knife use

How does one go about vacuum sealing things? They are relatively cheap. Just search for a home vacuum sealer available shipped to you (ali express or amazon definitely has some). They are great and very easy to use. 100% waterproof as long as you ensure a good seal (i.e. without creases, and double...

Re: Pimp my Paysan

I just want to say I like your style Fireman. Safe queens are ok i guess, but using them is much better. Looking at something pretty is meant for wall art and wood grain. Knives are tools to be used :) Like you said, functional art. FFG would make it more slicey and if you like the anno colors, anno...

Legitimacy check - outletspyderco.com?

I stumbled across outletspyderco.com but the old adage "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" rang true - Edit, after digging a little more I see this is indeed a fake site. Is it safe to say, in general, if the company is not listed on the official dealer map then its either f...

Re: Massad Ayoob II Model Maybe?

I'm with you JD. The Ayoob is not getting long in the tooth at all. I'd love to see iteration 2.0 (or just more of the current sprint or ideally the ayoob becoming a yearly limited run) The ayoob is one of the only knives I've doubled up on, and certainly have room for more. "More slicey" ...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

https://imgur.com/a/lUgIJGV I have scrubbed the **** out of the spots with Barkeeper's Friend, but it does nothing to remove the deeper staining. Also, the surface rust seems to grow around these spots, even after keeping the blade completely cleaned, re-covered in EWL silicone lube, then placed in...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

I've coated both blades with Slip 2000 EWL dry silicone lube and it makes the flip silky smooth, and has also prevented any more surface rust from developing. Thats great. CruWear after silicone lube soak seems pretty darn stain resistant. But when I first got my PE something got on it and it rusted...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

I never, ever (ever) bank toys just in case. But I have a backup SE just in case. It's that's great. :) Brought the Se to shot show for a lesson. (Many thanks to Chase for some 'Edge-ucation'). He said it was the first sighting in the wild so implies this is still a niche model in spite of our colle...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

I'll be at Shot Show and see if anyone in the Spyderco booth will let me record them demonstrating an experienced person sharpening the SE Ayoob. I have seen general se sharpening videos, but the ayoob is rather unique and would love to see an authoritative example specifically on this blade. And he...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

I have both and think of them like children. They're different but equally good. Cruwear plain edge can get wicked sharp, and I haven't even thinned it from its thick factory edge. I can get it to push cut paper with a 25* edge and thick blade which is impressive. The serrated cuts more stuff better...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

Couple recent thoughts- My SE is ground >20*, so the sharpmaker does not work intuitively (held perpendicular to the earth i mean). What is another quality sharpening system that works well with serrated blades, specifically like the new ayoob? 2nd, I have a se snaggletooth but actually like the too...

I'd be in for a serrated FRN Ayoob, in any one of the Salt steels!

FRN Ayoob in Magnacut anyone?

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

Got a backup SE and it doesnt have the snaggletooth! Not that it bothers me really, but my sample of 1 indicates maybe the later grinds had this 'issue' fixed. It shall remain a safe queen (my only one) until my primary SE Ayoob dies, is lost, or stolen. Also I randomly clicked on a couple links fro...

Re: C-60 Ayoob Campaign: No I Won't Shut Up

After taking this knife camping twice I am missing my high chrome stainless. Just for your information if you are able to get one of the older C-60 Ayoob models with VG-10 blade steel However I do believe that there has to be a way to prevent corrosion on your Cruwear model. The product from Sentry...
