What about dirt? Dirt in a ball bearing lock sucks
It’s not that easy unless you do it on purpose
Or unless you're using a chop saw or your shoving dirt with your inaccurate friends.

manix for sure What about dirt? Dirt in a ball bearing lock sucks This is something I´ve been wondering about for a long time now: In theory you should be totally right - but in real life, two of the three Manixes I had/have got REALLY dirty not only once - no problem whatsoever! Did you ever actua...

Re: Outdoor Spyderco - what would pick?

Tenacious S35VN ... of course it must have been you @Wartstein to mention it :p Yes, I must agree - design wise it is the most no-nonsense choice. Basically a little smaller, much cheaper and less fancy version of the Caribbean, plus it brings a little more practical blade profile. I basically hate...

Re: Outdoor Spyderco - what would you pick?

If you don't want a fixed blade my vote is for the Endura. It's light and easy to carry, it has a sizable blade and a back lock which is more suitable for the outdoors; some people baton with them. They also come in K390.
The cliff jumper is also a good pick.

Re: Outdoor Spyderco - what would pick?

Wow, thanks for all your feedback and ideas. Let me go through them quickly :) First of all - I am only looking at folding knives at the moment. I plan to make a fixed blade myself, working on the design at the back of my head (I find the Bradford knives really interesting). but will probably only ...

Re: Picked up my first SE knife... I don't get the hype.

I’m neither more pro-SE or more pro-PE. I like ‘em both, for different reasons. I’ve gone for some periods where I’ve carried PE more and others where I’ve carried SE more. It depends on what I’m planning to do and/or how I feel. Sometimes I carry one of each, though I haven’t been doing that latel...

Re: Picked up my first SE knife... I don't get the hype.

What about those, like me, that keep their serrated edges hair popping sharp? sal Haha I wouldn't have the patients for that! How does one shave with a serrated edge anyhow? Sounds painful :D Again, why do you "have the patience" to keep your PE knives sharp but not your SE knives? SE takes even le...

What about those, like me, that keep their serrated edges hair popping sharp? sal Once the knife has been sharpened and "broke in" and the teeth have mellowed out a bit, this is where the real performance is. I can cut open a bag of chips just as cleanly and effortlessly as any PE knife. WAIT. You ...

Re: Picked up my first SE knife... I don't get the hype.

I've only really had serrated edges on maybe 3 knives and was never impressed enough to sink more money into them. They do claw through textiles better when dull, and I'm sure they are better than PE for cutting lots of seatbelts (is this really something most folks are doing very often, the few fi...

Re: Picked up my first SE knife... I don't get the hype.

Definitely can relate to where you're coming from. I found serrated is a lot more enjoyable when cutting off the tips and making the edge more like rounded hills. Slices everything close to the same as plainedge after you do this. Does hold an edge a lot longer I found I still prefer plain edge mos...
