Re: Using a diamond steel for field touch up

Really one combination coarse/fine in the pack would do well, I used a diamond coarse, a diamond fine and a finishing strop for all of my sharpening for years. Ok that is my next question strop supplies This is going to sound very beginner like , but as I am collecting different types of steel I am...

Using a diamond steel for field touch up

I use a forschner diamond steel to freshen up my filet knives,on the boat and in the kitchen what steels are these capable of doing field touch ups ?? I really don’t want to waste my time on my more expensive Spyderco knives in say k390, v-toku2 , ect , , And maybe put one in the shop for hunters an...

Re: Invisible wire clip, good for winter

I put heat shrink tube on one of my PM2 clips. When getting out of my wife's car the sharp edge of the clip would scrape the bottom of her steering wheel (she has one of those tiny SUV's) and heat shrink stopped the scratching. On the plus side I found it was easier to pull out of my pocket with we...

Re: Invisible wire clip, good for winter

Great idea. Some of my overabundance of paracord might get used for clip wraps as I get more carriers with wire clips. I've also been wondering what sort of cord y'all use for lanyards. The lanyard holes on Spydies look too small for 550 to pass through. I don’t use 550 for lanyard , I use next siz...

Re: Forum sprint run?

Y’all jockeys can keep all the Ti scale and fugly color ( orange, pink , teal ,zome) frn and even any g10 stuff for y’all’s safes and drawers, chunk out some stretch 2’s in spy27, XHP , Hap40 , , 20cv or some full SE or PE delica in some of the hot list steel and pleasant looking Frn , I keep having...

Re: Is this normal for a k390 Endura?

S-3 is right, when I search for K390 there are similar modified knives at KP. Higher priced due to the dye job and hardware mods. So if its real then it's from KP? I'm no expert, but it appears to be real, however it was modified by the previous owner, not KP. That means no warranty for you. Really...

Re: Is this normal for a k390 Endura?

Your last picture shows the color better and it looks correct. Can you get a better picture of the tang where it says K390? It’s real  Knives plus has some that are modified and a look 100% likes the OP “” The MODIFIED Spyderco K390 Endela Lightweight Knife, a mid size EDC that ups the an...

Re: Is this normal for a k390 Endura?

I don't know whether or not it is fake, but I certainly wouldn't be calling it new, if he's been acid etching it. It also has an aftermarket clip. Agreed, a straight out of the box is $131.50 , the one I found acid etched and changed clip was $160? How much you pay for it ? Seller have a return pol...

Re: Traditional Pocketknife trend

When I was shopping for the S-3 ranch workers and guests gift knives we seriously looked at the Spyderco none locker URBAN , but the raven2 won out , so since case trapper is a popular we chose a liner lock
I guess those are considered traditional?

Yes
Sometimes it is nice to see how I can correct my mistake, see if something is chipping

I would definitely like to see how different types of steel performance is maxed out on toothy vs high polished [/b]. The stones or gizmos used :)

Re: Most Underestimated Steel.

i would agree with vivi that h1 is underrated. i'm not sure it's the most underrated though. steels like bd1 and vg10 are looked down upon because everyone around here wants to break down 1,000 boxes before needing to strop their knives back to shaving sharp, but really, they're perfectly adequate ...

Re: Most Underestimated Steel.

BD1N comes to mind. For me it performs a lot better in edge retention than it "should" according to objective tests, even Larrins. And it is a dream to sharpen, even better than VG10 in that regard for me. Both how quickly it goes and how sharp the steel gets. I am in this same thoughts about BD1 T...
