Re: Is this the knife everyone clamors for?
My first USA Spydie was an original mini Manix back lock... it's a fine knife but I prefer several other knives to it.

Re: New Discoveries found in 8Cr13MoV testing
So, how would the edge angle affect the results? Say, 30º inclusive vs 20º inclusive? What was the angle of the edge being tested and how thin behind the edge was the blade? If you're asking about Larrin's CATRA testing, there's a section in this article describing their test blade design and it do...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
This one needed a sharpening a couple days ago, much better after that. Goes a long time between sessions with a stone!

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Haven't carried my CruCarta PM2 for a long time, so today seemed like a good day to get it out.

Couldn't decide between the favorites, so it's both for today. This bleak black and white picture is my sad protest against being stuck inside for the day.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Definitely will have to get a G10 Para 3 with 15V. Was hoping that would happen, I do like the Para 3 as a sub 3 inch knife.

Very early for things to be growing here, but it is what it is. Nice weather for a 7 mile hike in the afternoon though.

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Missed this thread. I'll have to try for a 15V Millie 2, that's just too cool. The microjimbo is interesting too, we'll see how I feel when it hits the market.
Looking forward to what else there is to see!

Seeing a couple pics on Instagram. Looks like I'll have reason to get a Military 2 (spoiler alert it's 15V).

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Got out for a little fishing. 15V PM2 was along for the journey. This was a bit of a "redemption" trip to a stream I'd tried to fish years ago. I was very new to fly fishing at that time, and picked a hot summer day, which was far from ideal. Much of the canyon this creek resides in is cho...

Re: Sharpening my Spydercos. A simple question...
Stropping will certainly eventually polish the apex. It can be used sparingly to refresh an edge a small number of times, but eventually you'll need to take the edge back to a stone to restore its toothiness. As has been mentioned, you can certainly think outside the box and do a polished bevel and ...

Re: Caribbean Adjustment?
Get a Stretch XL Salt or Pacific Salt in H1/H2 and you'll be doing great. LC200N will also work just fine. Pick plain edge or serrated based on your sharpening experience or preference. I did have a Siren for a time and the stiffness of the G10 scales was a plus, for me, but Spyderco's FRN handles a...

Re: S110v to delicate more of a safe queen???
I have a g10 native 5 with liners, s110v blade AND it’s been reground to .010” BTE so it is an absolute lazer beam. It’s my recycling knife. I don’t carry it, it just sits out around the house ready for any cardboard and plastic and anything else I grab it for. Pics or it didn’t happen? That’s a 15...

Re: S110v to delicate more of a safe queen???
It's not the toughest steel around but it can work quite well. I run my edges quite thin and don't have many problems, but I am a bit careful with S110V.

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!
Finally got mine last night. With all the talk about sharpness in this thread I checked mine and indeed it wasn't that sharp. Could kind of slice but more tear regular printer paper. Checking the edge with my pocket microscope, to my surprise it had a burr. That explains the lack of sharpness, but ...

Re: MT40P – HIC Mule Team Dropping Soon!
Mine arrived today. Edge just draw cuts paper but that's about it. I suppose I will end up trying to put it to stones sometime to see if it can be improved. The edge is even and without any other obvious flaw though. Right now I'm kind of with Bolster's thoughts of "strange and interesting"...
