Re: Spyderco in use, review/feedback thread

I'll play, still super happy with the performance of my K390 Endela. Fist day I got it, I tested the edge on paper as a point of reference, then proceeded to cut up the carboard that my new 8"x12" shed was packaged in. Cut up, it filled a 96 gallon container. Afterward, the front half of t...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

In addition to the usual ZDP DF2 and K390 Endela, just got this out of the mailbox so stuck it in my back pocket. Love the color! And like it much better than the Wharnie version I have!

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

USPS tacking has said for the last 4 days that a label has been created and they are waiting for the package. This morning I awake to a pleasant surprise, my package is out for delivery! Yay! Got a Blue Delica4 and Yellow SE Salt on the way. But I'm most excited about the diamond Sharpmaker rods. It...

Re: The joy of a near perfect specimen

Is this a thing with the G10 Manix in general? I only have one, and it is perfection. I have perfect specimens of other models, but interesting the Manix is mentioned, as it has been my EDC for couple of weeks. Bit unusual for me. Waiting for the next perfect one. Funny you should mention that. Per...

Re: The joy of a near perfect specimen

My K390 Endela is in my pocket today, and everyday for the last two+ months. Still makes me scratch my head when I see these in stock online….like why aren’t these on backorder and out of stock at every online vendor in America? I’m definitely going to get the serrated version, but I wouldn’t chang...

Re: The joy of a near perfect specimen

K390 variant? Yessiree, slowly becoming my favorite steel in spite of my resistance… I know that feeling. I feel better knowing that, while ZDP is being phased out, K390 will be there to take its place. My first K390 purchase was an Endela, and like the OP's, it was PERFECT. Blade centered, great a...

Re: Should Zome be Discontinued?

Nope. Really not a Zome fan, but somehow I couldn't resist the "ugly" ones :D https://i.imgur.com/2YA58CK.jpg I really like that yellow/green one. Would love to add one to my collection. While I'm not a super big fan of Zome, one thing I do like is that no two knives are the same. The pat...

Re: KnifeJoy 20cv Endura4

My ZDP DF2 grind was uneven as you describe, though not twice as steep on one side. I busted out the Lansky, set the angle to 17.5 degrees and spent a day reprofiling it. Then I busted out the sharpmaker and put a real nice edge on it. On the one hand, I feel I shouldn't have to do that, on the othe...

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?

upon arriving home yesterday, I used my K390 Endela to open the package my 20CV Endura came in. Then I used it to open the packaging on my new fire pit. Prior to that I was at work and used my ZDP DF2 to cut the end off a banana peel.

Re: KnifeJoy 20cv Endura4

Only reason I didn't try the 20cv Endura 4 instead of the ZDP-189 FFG one is that the shipping from US might have ended badly (don't know this website's overseas shippings well). That would've been the same price including shipping. Hope it wasn't a mistake lol. FWIW, I use my ZDP DF2 daily, mostly...

Re: Should Zome be Discontinued?

I really don't like zome. But why would I want something discontinued that many people enjoy? I get no joy from depriving others from something that brings them joy, even if I do not personally like it. Getting a strong "stop liking what I don't like" vibe here. Probably more of a "I...

Re: Should Zome be Discontinued?

If it didn't sell, retailers would not be commissioning Zome Exclusives. Whether I like it or not, is immaterial, as long as enough others buy them.

Re: Sal, why is ZDP-189 being phased out in favor of K390?

Great explantion and history Sal, thanks. I'm on the lookout for ZDP Stretch 2 and would love one in K390 with the drop point blade.

That 4" versions sounds amazing, and though I can;t carry one, I'll definitely pick one up.

Re: Endura 4 ZDP-189

Personally, I'll take VG-10 over ZDP-189 any day. ZDP-189 definitely holds an edge longer than VG-10, but then takes longer to sharpen and is also less rust and stain resistant than VG-10 so I don't see any real advantage to it. I have to respectfully disagree. I won't argue that VG-10 is more rust...

Re: Endura 4 ZDP-189

Congrats, you will love both the knife and the steel!

I'm planning a wild pig hunt this winter and even though I carry a fixed blade skinning knife, it dulls quickly after skinning a couple of pigs and having a stretch in ZDP would be the ultimate backup knife.

Re: KnifeJoy 20cv Endura4

Mine is waiting for me to unbox when I get home. Looking forward to seeing the blue in person.

Too late to change the K390 shade, my mind automatically associates it with a fantastic steel!

Re: Endura 4 ZDP-189

Yes, I have one and definitely feel it is worth $30 more than the VG-10. I'd carry it if I weren't limited to a 3.5" blade. Besides, they won't be found anymore making it a soon to be scarce model. I'm trolling the interwebs right now looking for a ZDP Stretch 2 that I decided I have to have!

If zdp does in fact go away, maybe a "final run" sprint?

I vote for a sprint of the Jester, Endela, Wharnie Dragonfly.
Wow, I totally second this and would ACTUALLY buy all three!
